in AC? I haven't had any luck thus far. It's really annoying too because I used to be able to get them not even several weeks ago and of course this happens to me when I need it the most since my friend is having a bachelor's party on 8/1.
I can't believe that despite being an ahem.. *good* customer, they want me to pay like $300-$379 (depending on the property) for the room!

I can get it, but it's not easy, especially if you are strictly a table game player. I went from Gold to Diamond at HET properties in 2 trips mostly by plowing through on full-pay VP games during +EV promotions. VP is a valuable skill for any AP and easy to learn.

It's harder in summer for sure. Recommend Trop and Hilton for the easiest rooms.

What stakes were you playing VP at if you don't mind me asking? Also what kind of +EV promotions have you seen. I get slot dollars sometimes but that's as far as it goes when it comes to +EV VP unless you count things like 3x comp dollars

I'm not :( But I think I made a tactical error. I only play rated at one casino, while playing unrated at 3 others regularly. The one casino (a boardwalk location) has provided me with rooms any night of the week and all the food comps necessary. UNTIL JULY! in july my comp offer went to sunday to thursday only. And for august I didn't even receive comped room offers...just a "special rate". I don't really care that much as I tend to play less in AC during the summer anyway. It's just too crowded for me.

By only playing rated at one location, I may or may not have missed out on another property being more liberal with their summer offers.

I play at the $1 or $2 level, preferably $2, and yes that 3X comp is good enough. Last time I was playing 10x cashback at Showboat. Plus the misc. slot dollars and promotions and discretionary comps you pick up for VP play, definitely worth it.

Just don't get an addiction! I've heard that VP is the most addictive form of gambling.

Absolutely.

(Dead link: http://www.vpfree2.com/casinos/new-jersey.html)
I'm going to have to look more carefully then because I thought all the video poker games were near the poker room cashier near the entrance to the casino from the boardwalk and those all were 8/5 or even worse for the 100 hand video poker machines. (If they had 100 hand video poker for full pay JoB, I'd be in VP heaven)

any harrahs property should give you a comp room with minimal play. I played for about 3 hours a few months ago and i get free room offers at any property, my avg bet was less than $50.

k47k I would stay anywhere in atlantic city for free I just need a room so I can play blackjack. I just can't seem to aquire any comps.
If all else fails, look for a really ugly girl playing dollar slots and ask her if she'd like some company. :cool2:

Seriously, the comps will come in time. If you can afford to play BJ in AC you can afford the roach motels on Rt. 30 for now. Consider staying in those places to be a rite of passage.

Roach Motels :laugh::laugh::laugh: They generally go for $100+ on Sat nights in the summer. Not bad for a real life horror movie :) but definitely not + EV. Or you can go the way of the wounded souls and see if there's space available in the bus lobbies. You never know what kind of new odors you might be introduced to there. I especially recommend Trump Plaza and Bally's for that.

Last but no least, make yourself a sand bed under the piers.

.
I've done the bus lobby thing. Not looking for a nights sleep mind you, just to rest my eyes for an hour between shifts. Let me tell ya, Trump Plaza and Bally's are both an upgrade compared to the old bus lobby at the Sands. lol

I guess you guys don't drive. We've slept in the car many a time after playing all night and not wanting to make the 3 hr drive home. Those power naps do wonders.

Up until last year we just called the Marina and they'd put us up in a suite, any time, any day, based on my wife's play. Haven't played there in over a year ... I'm sure they miss us .

BJC

Edit: Slot players get some awesome comps.... they kissed her butt for years... even as she took their money home. Then they got wise and took away her machines and the easy money was over. They lost another customer.

Now she gets $200 free play.. 1-2 per week from another store. She's used about 16 of them in the past 2 months and has never won a single penny, Now that really tells you something about todays payouts...and possibly the computerized systems used.

They took away my favorite slot machine from the Borgata. I only used my free slot dollars on it and as a diversion from BJ and Poker but I used to win all the time on it and had my biggest slot pay day ever on it including VP poker machines, which is probably why they took it away :)

BJ, the new greyhound buses that go to AC are faarrrr better. They have leather seats, cup holders and wifi no joke! I don't necessarily like the type of people who go on those buses, but it saves about $50 in gas and tolls each trip and you don't have to worry about driving when tired so it's +EV for me.

Wow, WiFi? Do they have power outlets for laptops too?

Seems to me the best overall solution is to just learn to play VP, and play it so you get your comps and offers. Every AC property has full-pay VP.
