"Arithmetic Average" or "Quadratic Average" ?

I would like to hear opinions of expert statisticians.

For example, average betting amount per 1 round should be

"Arithmetic Average" or "Quadratic Average" ? Why?

The artithmetic mean is the arithmetic mean, and the quadratic mean is the quadratic mean. Can't imagine why you would use quadratic means. Unless you've invented a sine wave progression and want to know the RMS amplitude.:)

Norm,

I have had one question for long time, I just wanted to know
what is the background statistical theory of using "quadratic average bet"
for a calculation in this page.

He's just talking about a short cut method of calculating SD/round in a BJ sim, which is a bit of a problem. I discuss this in the print version of my book. I couldn't use his short cut efficiently in CVData, because CVData allows the user to create oddball side bets, which makes a table of bets impractical.
