Last I knew Trop had some of the best games. Still true?

I'm staying at the Chelsey because it's next door, but is it close enough to visit the other Boardwalk casinos by foot even if I don't walk well?. Which othere have good games?

Anyone be there next week?

Trop still has decent games. 6 and 8 decks but you can find decent penetration if you look. It varies dealer to dealer. All games are still stand soft 17. The other casinos that have decent games in Ac are trump plaza, Resorts and Borgata. Borgata requires a jitney or taxi ride and probably resorts as well since you mentioned that you don't walk well. Trump plaza may be within your walk range. I guess its about 5 blocks.

Trump Plaza has uniform bad penetration.

Trump Plaza to the Tropicana is a FAR walk.
At least 1 mile I would think.
Easy enough to check with google maps or mapquest

Take a "rolling chair" on the boardwalk.

Closest to the Trop' is The Hilton.

There are some good games there at the $25 level.

Off hours / days the S17 six deckers just might be at lower stakes.

Near the High Roller Pit.

It's not a far walk. Takes 10 minutes. both google and yahoo maps says about 1/2 mile. Tropicana all the way to showboat is only 2 miles. You've got your distances a little screwed up.

As for penetration, I've been playing a bit more at TP in the past few weeks and can always find 75% or better. Not great, but not horrible for AC.

I'm there on Tuesday, but just to do a hit and run on a few Harrahs Reel Rewards before heading to Ft Dix for an end of summer bash.

Heading out Sunday AM, but will be just hitting AC Monday afternoon.
Maybe I'll see you. Look for the innocent looking winning ploppy from NY.;'-)

Thanks to all for the input.

PS: Google shows Trop to Trump about 1.4 miles walk == about 27 Minutes by them.

Tropicana is in the 2800 block of the boardwalk, Trump Plaza 2200 block. 6 blocks is not a mile and a half. Here's a link discribing tropicana as 5 blocks from convention hall, which is right next door to trump plaza.

http://www.theatlanticcitycasinos.com/tropican.html

map quest shows the distance to be roughly 2400 feet, which is just under half a mile.

I was using the Trump Taj address @ 1000 Boardwalk. I see the Plaza is less than 1/2 mile

Just got back this afternoon . . . FWIW, Trump Plaza is now all 8D, don't know if it will be a permanent thing or just for this past weekend

Are you SURE it's all 8 Decks?? I was just there last week and it was 6 decks mostly with a few 8 deck $15 tables. I just can't fathom why they suddenly would give up the only reason people had to play there. I'm going to settle the argument once and for all. It is a 10 minute walk from the Trop to Trump Plaza and about a 25 minute walk from there to Trump Taj Mahal.

Yes there were 6 decks last week. I'm going tommorow so will have to check. Seems very unlikely they would go to all 8 decks just for the weekend.

As for the argument. There is no argument. I walk that 5-6 times a week. I was right all along. Just took a while to convince others. I will admit that sometimes it seems longer because it's so wide open. Part of the walk doesn't even have stores on the boardwalk. Sometimes in January or February, when the wind is whipping through the open space, it seems longer. burrr.

Thunder,

I am absolutely, unequivocably positive it was all 8D this weekend, where the $25 and up tables had been. I first noticed the taller discard tray and thought "Maybe they just switched the trays but are keeping the same number of decks" until I saw the dealers filling them at the end of a shoe. Yes, there was a light crowd there . . . many empty or half-full tables.

kewlj, please let me know if I need to be beaten with a wet noodle for misinformation! :whip:

Well I just went there yesterday and they're really shooting themselves in the foot. TP has indeed gone all 8 decks. I'm glad I took FULL advantage of all the comps they gave me before this happened. It's amazing after going from Tropicana to there then to Bally's, the difference in the players and overall experience. Tropicana now kicks both of their butts in every way possible.

Trump Plaza

All now 8 decks but still with NMSE on a $25 Min. table. To do this just as AC casinos are mulling over not enough business at the blackjack tables so considering shutting down table games from 4AM until NOON "across the board"? That is as brilliant as being in competition with another local retailer and their sales are a good bit higher than yours, so you jack up your prices to make DAMN SURE you turn away MORE business than before.

There are other 6 deck games in AC and naturally people that enjoy playing 6 decks will actively seek them out and Trump Plaza will lose business. Stupidity will insure that they will take a long time to figure that out (if that's POSSIBLE for them to figure it out) and they will send people playing elsewhere just as Harrah's casinos have.

I wish I could be a casino executive. You know why?--- Because I could be a complete bumbling idiot that makes horrific decisions that cost the company money and STILL make the BIG BUCKS!

TP hasn't been a good place to play BJ in years. They don't have good pen. Same for Tropicana.

Trop has had pretty decent pen last month or so monkey. Of course, its not universal. very dealer dependant. gotta seek it out. Trump plaza had gotten better over the summer as well with decent pen (decent for Ac= 80% or better) until last week. The plaza wasn't a place i would seek out, but since I would catch the free trump shuttle there, I usually looked around.

Well in all fairness to AM, the penetration was worse at the Trop at every dealer pretty much but one the last time I went. It's down to 70% on average now. Also, call me crazy AM, but I don't seem to notice a huge difference in outcomes when playing with say a TC at +2 with only two decks left vs a TC of +1 with 4 decks left. This is simply because often times the running count seems to have a better correlation with when faces and aces come out than the TC does. For example if I'm at a full table with a running count of 15 with 5 decks left, I find I do better often with that then a running count of 6 with 2 decks left because often times the TC will go back to 0 before I even get a face card with only 2 decks left vs with 5 decks left.

Just an illusion. In the situation you describe, sometimes the count will be trashed by the time the cards get to you, but sometimes it will be even higher. On the average the TC at the end of the round will be exactly what it was at the beginning of the round; that's what the True Count Theorem tells us.

The Trop is a halfway decent place to backcount, given the large number of tables and most of them allow mid-shoe entry. If you're counting BJ in AC all you should really be doing is working on your backcounting game, optimum departure points, counting two tables etc.

East Coast Players

If any of you Gents want to play some very fine 6d games you are very welcome to attend the BASH.

I am sure you will enjoy the 2 to 3 day stay in "Shoe Game Heaven".

Rooms are still available and we would enjoy your company.:)
