Another Index Generator
"This is the fastest strategy index generator known to man, compliments of Sam Case. It does have some limitations regarding rule variations, and it only works with balanced counting systems. But have fun with it. The index numbers it generates are excellent. " --Arnold Snyder

Fast yes. Accurate, not close. I've known Sam Case for numerous years and respect his work. But this is just an old program based on a poor estimation technique. The indexes you can find in books are much better. All (and I mean all) of the software on that site is inaccurate and obsolete.

Editor's Note:

QFIT publishes the highest awarded BJ analysis and practice software ever created, so we would expect him to be critical of an old DOS-based algebraic system.

For the record, I am a fan of indices generated by algebraic algorithm (ie, non-simulation), especially since I don't believe in "precision indices." I have for years used algebraic indices which I then further round. zg

I would agree to the extent that exact indexes (given shoe games,) even with RA (risk aversion,) provide only a 2-5% benefit. What bothers me is programs that actually give you worse indexes than you can find in the books. The good books generally have much better indexes than "algebraic estimations." Which, after all, are cute inaccurate estimations. The simple fact is that indexes cannot be devised by algebraic methods. If they could, why would so many of us over the years bother with accurate index generation by much more complex methods?

I believe that exact indexes are of small value. But, they have some value in our world of toughening rules. Why would anyone want to find worse indexes than are in the books:)

In our modern synthetic world of simulated virtuality, algebraic indices are a last vestige in BJ theory of true HAND-CRAFTED QUALITY! zg
