I think basic strategy for this game is very complex. It doesn't really matter how you play.....it's as close to a coin toss as you can get.

Yes I heard that but i thought there must be something out thier that comes close. I read once where it said that you look a players card and then banker cards i can't remember exactly but they said look and figures say for example player 8 banker 6. They wrote you either minus or plus to get your next bet if going up switch to banker if going down stay with player.

Thanks anyway..

I know that Ed Thorpe(the father of BJ card counting)
wrote of being able to beat the game under certain conditions, but have read that those conditions no longer exist in todays casinos.
I'd guess that any system such as the one described by you would profit more from selling the system than
playing it.

I thought that blckjack and baccarat are almost similar that is in my local casino Crown Casino 8 decks is that once a card has come out say Ace is that now there is one less in the deck....

But in BJ,an abundence of hi cards leads to more naturals that pay 3-2 for the player. Is there a similar hand that pays a premium for the hand in baccarat?
As dealer in BJ must hit stiff hands(12-16),a lack of good cards is good for the player, bad for the dealer. Is this the case in baccarat?

Basic strategy for baccarat is simple. Bet banker. The house edge is lower than player, even with the commission.

Card counting in baccarat:
Plenty of research on this has been done, and the results are unanimous. This game doesn't provide any profit opportunity for counters. For example, in Peter Griffin's book The Theory of Blackjack, Griffin estimates that if you had a computer-perfect system, and played against a game where the cards were dealt down to only 10 remaining, you could make about $20 per shoe. But, to do that, you have to be willing to bet $1000 any time you have any advantage. You'd also have to not bet at all until those very rare situations when you would place a $1000 bet, because the cost of even $25 minimum waiting bets would undo your entire edge.

One trivial point for NYBear: It's Thorp, not Thorpe.
