Backcounting

I was at my local casino this weekend and most of the tables were filled up. I was planning on backcounting and did for a while but nobody was moving. Finally found a table with a slight positive count and 2 seats open so I sat down and played but it went down hill after bout 10 hands. I was there in early afternoon and there were a good number of tables not opened yet but I didn't feel like waiting all night for them to open. I could believe with that many players there that they didn't open up these extra tables.

bwssr,

Welcome to the wonderful (insert sarcasm emoji here) casino practice called "managing to full", in which the pit wants ALL the seats filled at ALL the open tables before opening any more.

See it allot in there. Ho Chunk Wisconsin Dells. I know of other places but I am going to stick with this place for now because it's close. Sometimes if I get there early (before 1pm) I can find tables with only one or 2 players which I believe makes for a better game to win at. I have only been playing since last April and got a lot more to learn. I have the BJA app on my iphone and practice on that at work and I have a 6 deck shoe at home. I have read Wong's, Colin's books and read beat the dealer so far. Thanks for the reply Dog Hand

Most casinos have learned from the past experience and eliminate backcounting effectively. They just open enough tables based on the crowd condition.

I find backcounting shoe games awkward and easy to be identified. The reason is high counts just don't happen that often in shoe games. You may need to wait for hours sometimes. Unless you have access to large number of casinos, it is just too obvious to anyone with a little knowledge of counting.
