Bad play by 3rd base player!

How do you guys get past it? I've read it all works out in the long run, but it seems to only happen to me on my big bets.

Near then end of the shoe, count is +9, I get 3, 3 versus dealer 6. I split get a 7, dbl down and get a ten for 20. Next hand I also get a ten so I stay on my 13.

Gets to 3rd base- Chinese dude, hits his 15 vs the dealers 6, and gets a 6 (now he's all fn happy he has 21), dealer has a King underneath and draws a 5 for the 21.

I know its all suppose to even out, but that money is gone!

Do any of you prefer to play 3rd base because of this?

In a shoe game I always play 3rd base, I know what some will say, but I WILL be there.

You made the right move, however at what point of the shoe were you at?????

I never play at third base, unless its the only seat open in the whole casino.I'm a first baser, by choice. Different strokes and all that.

Biggest hand I every won

With a max bet I land up splitting to 4 9's, get two double downs and do not have a hand over 15 but have 6 max bets on the table.
The guy at third base has a 4,2 and refuses (after being told by everyone that he can not bust) to hit, dealer who had stiff then busts. When the next hand is dealt I see that if third base had taken a hit the dealer would have made a hand and killed me. You just never know.

I don't think he can predict the next card to spite you and a lot of times this kind of play can actually help you (personal experience with big bets out there). If he is using hi-lo and TC is below -9, it is a correct play. But basic strategy players will scold you for this move specially when they lost theirs hands because of it (but won't say anything if they win it).

There is nothing more infuriating when you have a max bet out and someone is gobbling up good cards by doing stupid things like splitting 2's vs an 8 and then you lose your double down and the dealer doesn't bust as a result. JMHO

If something like that truly infuriates you, you are a long way from mastering this game. Either you play for the long run or you don't.

You're telling me you never get the least bit upset when someone does something stupid and it costs you a lot of money? I know all about the long run, but there's no rule that says you have to be a total robot to master counting. You're allowed to show some emotion you know It's not like I go steam betting after a loss because of something like that.

You stated you get infuriated. If thats true, then I stand by what I said.
If you have to express emotion, then why not laugh?

You guys are absolutely correct that it's just as likely to help you as hurt you except when the count is +. By them eating up more face cards, that will reduce your EV in the long run if I'm not mistaken.

What if they are like the person described by the original poster, not taking cards when they should? Wouldn't that increase your EV in + counts?

Or in negative counts, taking more cards than they should, helping you to escape the negative counts faster.

Unless you get a ploppie who always takes more cards in + and less in - counts it shouldn't hurt you in the long run.

Well that assumes that the ploppies generally take too many cards rather than too few. Assuming that, your positive counts will be slightly shorter but so will the negative counts. So if you only play from say counts of -1 and higher you still will see the same number of hands per hour.

However if you only play in positive accounts I suppose you would see less hands per hour due to the fact that the count would spend more time at 0.

I guess that means you are correct, assuming that the ploppies always take too many cards rather than too few. However it still doesn't matter whether the ploppy is at third base or first. It would actually be slightly better to have him at third because that way you would be dealt to first and have a better chance of receiving some of the higher cards.
