What is a good % play based on your bankroll? i was thinking 4%? That means if you bring 500 to a casino you bet 20 a hand......Anyone have any info/advice on this? Would be appreciated...

My recommendation would be that your top bet is 1% of your total BR

You are getting into "Risk of Ruin" type projections. In a positive expectation game where you have the advantage, the more BR you have, the less chance you'll have of losing it before you succeed and come out ahead. However, in a negative expectation game (BS without counting) you are doomed before you start. You will lose whatever you start with if you play long enough. In another thread, Ken stated that you might expect to lose a half bet per hour. Again, that is an average.....I think everyone here can testify to sessions where the loss (and sometimes WIN) is far greater than 1/2 bet per hour!

But if you are playing BS on a reasonable game (no 6:5 BJs or any of that crap) and if you flat bet, then a bet of 1% should last you (with a little luck) for several days of play.

From the context of the post from "GoPats2006", I gathered that he was strictly a BS player. From that standpoint, there really isn't much justification for raising bets. He's in it just for the recreational value received from playing.

I assumed he was counting cards for some reason. If you were counting $500 isnt enough to get you anywhere. However if you were just going to play BS for a few hours, I would say that $500 should be plenty for a few hours of gambling at 10/hand flat bet.

The general rule is to take 40X your standard bet if you are playing BS.

Unfortuately, with casinos these days, to realisticly come out ahead, $500 is no where near enough to start with, if you can find a casino that has a $2 min bet i would consider that to be your best option with such a low banrkoll, keep your max bet a $10 and $5 average bet, that IMO would be the only way to minimize your risk.

lucky me, most joints here in AZ have a $10 min bet at all their tables. Which really leaves me open for disaster especially since i do not feel comfortable going in with more than $4-$500

A bet spread of 1-2 won't beat any shoe games.
