Beginner looking for insight.

Hello everyone, new to the site and card counting. Just would like to get some insight from some of the members and also which counting system a beginner should start with (i.e K-O or high-low system). So anyone who would like to share personal experience or any advice that I could get would be great!

Thanks,

Cardshark

Either is good for a beginner. I personally prefer balanced counts and use hi-lo. That is a great deal of info about hi-lo as it is probably the most commonly used count.

My advise. read everything you can here. All the past posts. All the sticky threads. Also check out the free online book, Modern Blackjack at Qfit.com

http://www.qfit.com/book/

feel free to ask questions. There are alot of people here willing to help.

You should spend at least 100 hours reading books and practicing counting before playing in a casino.

Books:
Professional Blackjack, then Blackjack Attack

Software for Practicing:
QFIT's software is excellent for sims. It may also be pricey for most beginners (who usually try to play waaaay underrolled). I love QFIT's software, but I do not really like the practice it provides. SmartCards is excellent for counting practice. I also created an Excel file that helped me immensely on converting running count to true count.

How about the ultra-realistic game mode in CVBJ, and the gazillion drills. I still enjoy them after many years.

That is exactly what I am refering to. I don't like it. "Ultra-realistic" is over-rated.

Either is fine, and both perform (almost) equally well under common game conditions.

KO is a bit easier to use because there is no true count conversion. HiLo is a bit more intuitive (I think) because the count doesn't gradually creep up as the shoe is played. You will find much more written about HiLo because it is more widely used, but the KO book is very well written.

I suggest you read a bit about both, and maybe try each for a short period of time to see what appeals to you. But ultimately you must pick one and learn it well.

I use KO and find it very easy to use in actual casino conditions.
