Bellagio to discontinue $25,000 chips in wake of theft

The Bellagio plans to discontinue its $25,000 chips in the wake of a Dec. 14 heist. All gamblers holding the chips must redeem them by April 22. "It's pretty unusual for someone we don't know to come strolling up with a handful of $25,000 chips," said MGM Resorts spokesman Alan Feldman.

That's because they were hoping someone WOULD come up with a bunch of $25K chips!

This way they can retire the old chips and issue either a new but different $25K chip, or maybe $20K chips in their place.
