Best Single Deck Game?

#1
First, I’d like to mention that I’m new to this forum. I’ve been reading it for about a year now and have found it very informative. I’ve been hesitant to join since I didn’t think I had anything to offer. However, I think I’ve come across something of interest I thought I’d tell you all about it. I think I’ve found the best possible single deck game. Okay, here goes: Single deck, blackjack pays 3:2, S17, DAS and double after anything. According to the basic strategy engine, the house has edge is -.15%. Now, before everyone quits their day job, let me add a caveat. The game is at the Riviera in Blackhawk, Colorado. Colorado allows only $5.00 flat betting. So I would think that counting would be of no benefit. None the less, it’s a lot of fun to play and I’m ahead by couple of hundred dollars in the six times I’ve gone there. The amazing thing to me is that the one single deck table at the casino is hardly ever full! Everyone wants to play the six deck games that allow players to bet on winning 2, 3, 4, or 5 hands in a row. I guess it just goes to show the blackjack knowledge of Coloradoans! Anyway, since the table usually only has a couple of players I can play 2 or 3 hands at a time. I assume that this would be the one time where it would be advantages for a basic strategy player to play multiple hands. Am I right? Anyway, if you’re ever up to Colorado you might like to try this game out. Oh yes, we also have good skiing.

Well, if you are allowed to switch between 1 and 3 hands at your will then you can SPREAD 1-3! You won't make much spreading 5-15, but you can actually count and spread your bets if you can go between 1 and 3 spots whenever you choose.

I don't know if you know how to count or not, but in negative counts you would play one spot, and in high counts you would go to 2 or 3 spots.

You're right it's an advantage game for the player and so the more hands you play the better.

I'm not sure if it would be better to spread to 3 hands or not as it would increase your variance a bit and with the lower EV it might not be worth it depending on your bankroll.

One thing that I'm confused on-Colorado has a very strict $5 limit,so can you DD on a $5 bet or do you need to bet $2.50 in order to stay at the limits?
I know they allow splits on $5 bets as its a different hand, but they let you double down on them?

Of course they would let you double for full.

Five dollar max bets and flat bets! What's the point for the players or the house? I'm being serious, does the house even make money after overhead?
Of course they do - BECAUSE most players don't know basicS. zg

In addition to bleeding ploppies 5 bucks at a time, I think the table games also help keep more traffic in the casino, which leads to more spillover into the slots.

The Colorado casinos make their money on blackjack from ways they have of increasing the bet without violating the five dollar limit. The most popular method is called Blackjack streak where a player can make a 5$ bet each on winning 2, 3, 4 or 5 hands in a row. According to the Wizard of Odds, the house edge in this game ranges from 8.42% to 14.3%. These are very popular with the ploppies. The Riviera is the only casino offering a single deck game and it only has one table. I too have read where the Casinos are going to try to get the maximum bet increased to I believe $100 by ammending the state constitution in the 2008 general election.

You can, but I wouldn't try it! I have heard of counters getting barred for spreading $5-$20 there. It is a sweaty place with very few tables. If you play there, take it easy.
