Betting over max bet

#1
This week I was playing a DD with pretty good DP, about 85-90%

My max bet is usually $75, at a nickel table by myself. The TC was at plus 7, it was getting good but i lost a hand at $75 then the TC was about plus 10. So i doubled my bet at 150 won, and again for the last hand while the count was still high.

Any thoughts?

+10 is definitely time for a "supermax" bet, but if you're over betting your bankroll, it's not a good idea. A sky high count is no guarantee of a win.

My 'supermax' bet has a second trigger needed besides the required high TC or advantage. There must be a minimum of 6-8 rounds remaining (preferably more). Since my normal max bet is set by a threshold that I wish to remain under based on what I perceive as casino tolerance or comfort levels, I don't want to crash through that barrier, possibly triggering extra heat and attention for just a round or two before the shuffle.

This all but eliminates double deck games as an opportunity to employ supermax, which is fine as they are too heated up for my liking anyway. Even on shoe games, the count will usually get to supermax territory at the very end of the shoe, only a couple rounds before the shuffle, so I don't employ supermax. This makes it the very rare occurrence that I desire it to be. If you are using supermax more than "very rarely", it really becomes just your new max bet.

I can't answer your question unless you tell me what your bank roll is. A few bets over your max bet shouldn't be a problem though. Just don't make a habit of it or you might end up taking more risk than you intend to.
