Betting Strategies

I just started playing B.J. at the casinos several months ago, and I really enjoy it. It seems to me that the only way to come out ahead at the end of the night is by managing your bets properly, and not by trying to beat the dealer. So is it possible to earn a living at this game, and what are the more successful betting strategies? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Mark.

Longterm, the best ways to win in BJ are card counting, comp counting, extensive use of coupons, exploiting dealer weakness or shuffle tracking. No system of bets will overcome the house edge. None.

Well if you are not trying to beat the dealer, then who are you trying to beat? No money management system in the world will work if you don't have a positive expectation against the game you are playing.

As for making a living it would depend on what is a living for you? For some $20,000 would be enough, for others they couldn't live on $500,000 per year. Everybody has different means and expectations for life. Your living will depend on the size of the bankroll you could raise. Very few could make a living at AP but there are a select few who can do it and do it very successfully. Many are called, few are chosen!

The best betting strategy is to bet according to a mathematical advantage you can calculate.

I know of no betting strategy that can overcome the built in house edge. There are betting strategies that will reduce variance. However, if you are gambling to have fun, variance is what makes it fun!
