Blackjack dishing out only 6:5!?

I have been hearing a lot lately that many casinos in Vegas are paying out 6:5 on blackjacks. Whats the deal!? This change is ABYSMAL to even a card counter's odds! This is very frustrating seems how casnios are getting more and more stingy with their rules and I am NOW just diving into the world of card counting and making a profit from the casino. I am not yet 21 and am very anxious about my first trip to vegas, (for now, I play at 18+ year old casinos and have found some decent games) But at this rate, will it even be worth going to vegas!? How is it looking out there? How much effort does it take to still find the profitable games?

Many of the strip casinos offer single deck with a 6/5 BJ payout. Good shoe games can be found. Good single deck games can be found downtown at lower minimums. Good single deck games can be found on the strip (Bellagio, for example) at higher minimums.

Some notable exceptions that I am aware of are OShea's which pays 6/5 even on their shoe games. And Rio which payes even money on blackjack in their bikini pit. I guess people are willing to pay a premium to have a bikini-clad silicone enhanced dealer.

Good single deck games can be found on the strip (Bellagio, for example) at higher minimums.

There are no single deck games at Bellagio. Also, they recently closed one of the pits that offered several double deck games. When I was there last week, there were only four 2-deck games available, at minimums of $300 and $500.

You can still find single deck 3:2 games downtown, and there are still decent double deck games both on the Strip and downtown.

Not sure where I read it, but given the choice between an 8 deck shoe and a single deck 6:5 table, the house advantage is higher on the 6:5 table. Knowing this makes it easier for me to keep walking past the single deck 6:5 tables and sit down to a shoe game. Plus for some reason the single deck 6:5 tables are always full.

Single deck 6/5 is much worse than 8 deck or any other rules the casinos have come up with. Avoid like the plague. It adds 1.41% to the house edge. Impossible to overcome that with counting. The reason you see all the ploppies sitting there is because they have some vague knowledge that single deck games are better (though they have no idea why) so they sit there, having no idea that the 6/5 payout makes the 3/2 shoe game across the aisle a much much much better game! I'm with Stanko on this. AVOID 6/5!!!
