Hello all
Im new to this website and i appreciate all the info I have gotten from it already.. Heres my short history and why im here..
Im a novice BJ player who has been to Vegas acouple times when the Sahara had 1$ min betting tables, that was a few years ago. While playing there a few times I picked up some good but basic rules like stay on dealer 6 and split aces and 8s etc.
Using those basic strategies I would win some and lose more but have fun %100 of the time. (off subject) Roulette killz me. Do those casino bastards really have to put roulette tables near the exits? Why is it that I think after having a great BJ night I can double it quickly by dropping it all on red or black.(Back on subject)
Recently ive picked up on the Texas Hold'm craze, bought a beautiful chipset and play every weekend with friends. I tend to do pretty well and come out ahead 95% of the time. I wanted to test my skillz vs other people to see where I stand, someone suggested getting an online account with bodog.com
I signed up with bodog and deposited $50 with 10% bonus giving me $55 dollars to start out with, sweet! My plan from the beginning was win $20 and deposit $50 back into my account and just play with winnings. A few nights later, long story short, I lost acouple of unlucky ALL INs and was left with $13 total. I went to bed that night thinkn im gonna play bodog blackjack the next day to win my money back.
The next day at work durning lunch I downloaded bodog blackjack and started playing with my last $13. My plan was to bet $3 at a time and if I lost I would double my bets until I won it back. I figured how can someone go wrong with a betting system like that! lol (after visiting this website for the first time yesterday I now know I was using the flawed Martingale betting system, this story takes place 4-5 days ago) To my suprise, after being out of real money blackjack for a few years, I WON big. In 15min I was up to $130. I couldnt MISS! Doubling down, splitting, getting blackjacks, I was hitting everything right. I knew the law of averages was gonna catch up sooner or later so I stopped and quickly cashed out $50 dollars back into my bank account leaving me $80 of house money to play BJ or Texas Hold'em with.
That night I told my wife my good fortunes and grabbed my new chipset to practice my new found betting system. I wanted to practice because winning feels good but losing hurts worse and I knew there was no way I came up with a betting system that works, I can barely dress myself let alone come up with a flawless betting system. I took out $80 dollars worth of chips and had her act like bodog style blackjack dealing with 1 deck of cards and shuffling after each hand. (Bodog uses 4 decks and shuffles after each hand) After 3 attempts I lost MISERABLY! She was the most ruthless dealer ive ever faced!
Thats why im here now =)
After doing BJ and betting research online the last 2 days it brought me to this $$$ website. Ive been diligently working on memorizing basic strategy on bodog fake money and I figure I might as well count cards while Im at it!
Sooo..Zengrifter has mentioned zen and hi/lo counting acouple times. Can someone reference me to what each card is worth in those counting systems, also..when do you start with bigger bets? Does the number value change when you have multiple decks? And Im assuming you start counting as soon as the dealer deals the first round of cards. Ok..thats enough for now.
hehe, sorry about the long post, gotta start somewhere! Thanks for any help guys. I realize im scratching on the surface of very complex strategies.
