Can't redeem free bet coupon

I was backed off from a certain property during the summer but I keep getting offers from them for free bets. So during my recent trip to Vegas I walked up to the players club and asked to redeem it (with my players card).

She looks it up and says "OH, I'll be right back", then heads into the back. Obviously she was checking whether or not I could redeem it.

5 minutes later she comes back and says "Unfortunately we cannot give you the coupon". So I counter with, "Okay I know I can't play blackjack, but I love playing craps and was going to use it on there."

"Sorry, we can't let you use it."

So it looks like once you get flagged as a CC they just don't want your business at all.

The marketing department doesn't talk to security. You can be 86ed from a casino but fight it by saying that you received an invitation to enter and play.

You've never had a room comp canceled on you.

I seem to recall hearing something about a similar incident in which Bob Nersesian was denied a coupon payout at the Palms. He appealed to the gaming commission which ordered the Palms to pay up.

Of course, the fact that Bob Nersesian is an attorney probably didn't hurt one bit. :)

That's different though.

If you played under the pretense that the payout is modified because of the coupon you may have a claim.

If they won't issue you the coupon to begin with, it's the casino's discretion if they don't want to offer you the promotion.

The first case is like telling you blackjack pays 3-2, then pulling out a sign that says blackjack pays 6-5 and refusing to pay you the 3-2 AFTER you hit the blackjack.

It's very common for casinos to renege on coupons. There is often a disclaimer on them that disallows their use by anyone who is restricted. The casino can just 86 you from the premises such that even if you had the coupon you can't use it so it's best that you just leave it alone.

Dye, not all places have that policy. I get match play coupons where I cannot play BJ but I use them at other table games. Sounds like a Vegas thang'.

You idiot you don't ask if you can redeem the coupons you just show the dealer the coupons put them down and put your money on top and use them first thing. You don't go up to the pit boss tell them you been 86'ed and ask to use the coupons. The casino is dumb to send people that count cards coupons.

In some cases you have to present the promotional coupon at the player's club. They take the promotional coupon and give you a matchplay that can be used at the tables. You can't go straight to the tables and use the promo coupon. It sounds like this was one of those situations.

Whoa, buddy! You doing alright today? How are things at home?

Might be time to sit back, have a beer and watch some tv or something. You know, relax a little.

Wait... you mean I shouldn't have walked up to the Pit and said "Hey I was backed off here last month but I am going to try to bet this anyway"?

There are different types of coupons Champ - This one was one I had received on-line and had to redeem at the Players Club.

I've seen that at a few downtown stores too. It makes it tougher for people who have a card for comps but play certain games unrated. Once the pit gets your name they will remember you next time.
