Count Guess based on number of card for bust

I am practicing back counting, a player hand busts and the cards are discarded quickly. Sometimes I miss the view and do not get few seconds more to fan the cards to adjust my running count.

Does it make sense to come up with highly probable count for a 3/4/5 card bust hand?

If you can't see the cards or reasonably infer what they are, they never got dealt.

If you miss the third card that busted a stiff hand (12,13,14,15,16) you can count the unseen bust card as a 10, it's a conservative estimate. Try not to let this happen to often.

If you missed a few cards it does not matter. Do NOT add any guestimate adjustments to the count.

You can ask the player what he had. If there are too many other players you shouldn't be playing at that table.
