Counting in Vegas - Questions

Hey,

So I have been counting in Vegas for the last two days and have some questions.

1) Where I usually play at home, I am not really at any risk for heat and also the pen isn't so good so I don't think the casino sweats it. However, I have been playing at 2 places in Vegas and one place in particular is a smaller joint with mostly locals. My question is, after playing for a couple hours, doesn't it get very obvious to the dealer/boss that something is going on when you have been hitting 16x10 for 9 shoes in a row and all of a sudden you don't? Or insurance...

2) I have been playing at 2 places that CBJN said had good games and they were right. Both places are 6 deck, DAS, H17, etc.. Place #1 has a $15 min. though which forces me to have a higher max bet to keep a decent spread. The pen here ranges from 1.2 getting cut off to slightly less than one.

Place #2 has a $5 minimum which is easier for me to keep a big spread with a lower Max. However, the pen here ranges from 1.2-1.5 getting cut. My question is, which place is better? Is Pen more important than spread?

Thanks,

David

1) I wouldn't worry about the index plays being noticed, especially on 16 and 12s. First and most important, the pit boss is not watching every hand...he has no idea you hit that 16 all those other times. 2nd of all, ploppies everywhere stand on 16s and 12s. They are scary hands after all. You are going to have to work very hard (spread like mad) to catch heat in a 5$ shoe game. The dealer is more likely to notice and less likely to care. You can always throw in a casual "I hate 16s" if you think someone is paying attention. Also, I like to make a habit of putting on a frown or a pout whenever I get a 16 or a 12.

2) Greater pen means more advantage, but higher unit sizes mean more risk to your BR. Do you have the BR to support the more expensive play? If not, what is your tolerance for playing at a higher RoR? If you can get < 1 deck cut off regularly, that's pretty good stuff though.

if you have to lower your spread to play the deeper game, that's a whole 'nother can of worms. The math men will have to weigh in on that issue.

Cheers,
CP
