Counting while talking

I read somewhere (maybe on the BJForum site) that if you can sing a song out loud while keeping the count, you'll be ready for anything.

id liek to suggest that if somebody is watching your game singing has always been a very successfull ploy use to get them to think otherwise about my card counting skills, seriosuly what kind of card counter (other than me) sings along to the cheesy 80s music in the casino

Just be careful about singing a particular Cheap Trick song at the table. I'll never make that mistake again! Fortunately it only cost me a red chip.

My team and I have made a drill for this which we found to be extremely challenging initially.

One player practices both playing and holding the count, one teammate will interject at random intervals with simple arithmetic problems- "Two plus five?" "Eight minus two?" "Four plus one?" etc.

It calls for real time calculation and timely response from the counting player, as opposed to singing along to a song you already have memorized (though we did practice that very much in the past). Hope someone finds this helpful.

Spread to two hands of big bets, get blackjacks on both and break into Gene Pitt of the Jive Five's, "I'm a Happy Man" and an African American pit joins in with a little of the base. Total count went down to +3 after that hand, so nothing was lost in the count and a great conversation began between the pit and myself on 50's Do-Wop groups.
