DAS Questions

Which is more commonly found - DAS allowed, or not allowed?

I know the BS is different depending on whether Double After Split is allowed.
I also know there are only a few changes. The ones I see involve splitting
2/2 against dealer's 2 or 3
3/3 against dealer's 2 or 3
4/4 against dealer's 5 or 6
6/6 against dealer's 2

I know one should use the correct BS for the rules you're playing, but, if I only memorized one set, which one would be the better one?

For math wizards/statistics lovers only:
Let's say DAS was allowed, but I was using BS for DAS NOT Allowed. How much advantage would I be giving the casino by playing these few situations incorrectly?
Since I don't get to play in a casino often, it makes it harder to memorize BS, especially if I don't know what the rules will be. If I knew the rules, I could focus on BS chart for those rules.

Thanks for any input.

Answer: DAS Allowed is most common

Answer: Rule of thumb is to memorize basic strategy for a common 6 deck shoe game, This should be the game with the lowest limits, for a new player.

Only after you mastered one strategy learning the modifications for the other games are easy, getting basic strategy where it is automatic in your head is not as difficult as you may think.
Practice Basic strategy at http://www.hitorstand.net This is a free non-download strategy trainer game inwhich scores you on playing perfect basic strategy. This game will play those (not so common hands) and will greatly speed-up learning basic strategy for you.

Double Deck

The good Double Deck games will have the same rules as a good 6-deck game, but unfortunately, all to often, the rules are skewed for double deck. For example, DAS is not allowed on many tables and not only that, but they will allow you to double down on only 9/10/11 (no double allowed on soft hands at all!) And, if you find a Double Deck table that stands on soft 17, you've become lucky indeed though they are out there if you look hard enough.

A good example: The Plaza now stands on soft 17, but they do not allow double after split and they only allow splitting Aces one time....other pairs they allow splitting up to 4 hands.

Right across the street at Las Vegas Club, they hit soft 17 but allow double on anything and allow double after split and you can split aces just like any other pair (but you can't rehit split aces).

Which is the better double deck game? Plaza, believe it or not!

Plaza vs. Binions/Vegas Club

Thanks Mike, I logged on today to ask that exact question.

One more thing: I was in Vegas this weekend and The Plaza was using a shoe for their 2 deck games. I'd never seen this before and it felt like it was slowing down the game. Someone I was playing with said they must have been hit hard by card counters; do you think that's the case?

BTW: I had a great weekend and ended up with exactly the money I started with (despite losing $250 on the craps tables); thanks to everyone for all the great BJ tips.

Learn the DAS variations, there are only a handful, this is where the reduced housEdge is manifested - answer: LEARN BOTH.

The LVClub is slightly better for counting. zg

This has been discussed briefly in another thread I seem to remember. I think that there was a period of time in which sloppy dealers were showing hole cards while dealing the pitch game. This generated the shoe deal starting back on the Friday preceeding Labor Day 1005. The rules changes took place in mid-January when new management took over.
