Last night I visited my favorite BJ table just found out it was infested with ploppies. And when I had 16 against upcard 10 and signaled surrender, the dealer informed me that surrender is no longer available. No wonder all APs are gone!

The table started with S17 with early surrender. Then it changed to late surrender. Then the casino took away S17. Now without surrender, it is no better than dead.

I just recently reduced my spread to 1-7, then 1-6 and it is still profitable for me. So you are not the only one with modest spread.

The good news my friend, who is more friendly with dealers, told me today is that the removal of Surrender is store wide, including 8D tables, not just this 2D table. If revenue goes down, the casino may cave in and bring back surrender in a few weeks. I encourage regular APs change their spread to 1-10 or 1-12 in next few weeks to make the change look bad in accounting.

Better yet, reverse the spread. Make it 10-1 or 12-1. That'll really bust their chops!

Now that the game is H17, no surrender, and the other APs have abandoned it, you want us to RAISE our betting spread? And when the rules were good, you wanted APs to lower their spread? You say that this will make the change look bad in accounting. So, you think with a tougher game, likely with poor pen since the other APs have departed, raising one's betting spread and losing more than your would otherwise, somehow makes the change look bad? I suggest that the reason that you are still winning has nothing to do with the game being beatable. It sounds to me like you are getting lucky and rather than raising your betting spread, you should leave this game altogether. I am not a genius like you, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the writing on the wall.

You can still beat it because it is double deck with decent penetration. On my last visit, the dealers almost run out of the cards many times. I mean really. There were only 2 or 3 cards left. So the penetration is constantly at 90% if it is a full table. There is only one dealer, Vicki from Las Vegas who is not generous on the penetration. Even so, her 75% for 2D is acceptable.

They took away late surrender, raise house edge about 0.20%. You can compensate by a wider spread.

Actually I have spelled out the casino name in my early posts. After receiving many angry PMs, I have deleted them. But if you have photographic memory as many APs have, many of you would have no problem remembering it.

So then you are saying that it is a complete mystery why all those APs left a winning game? Previously, you praised these same APs for having the discretion to not overspread, but now these same wise APs seemed to have failed to grasp the fact that the game is still eminently beatable.

Are you now going to raise your betting spread to convince the house that they did the wrong thing by eliminating late surrender and S17, as you advised others previously? On the contrary, I think it will only serve to convince them they did not go far enough.

You mean "again". But that is good. Keep your word. Albee knows anyway; like he said, he just didn't want to waste a long trip. If he PMs you the location, you should have the courtesy to confirm his knowledge. If he is wrong, just tell him "no."
