Does this have the same house edge as a regular game?

Hi Folks,

Last week I went to San Juan on business and of course I played a little in my spare time. At this one casino they offered what they called "London Deal BJ"....at first I thought it was ENHC, but when I asked the pit boss about this "strange rule", he said you only lose one bet if you double down or split if the dealer pulls a BJ.

I'm guessing this isn't any different than regular blackjack, or am I mistaken? I didn't vary my strategy one bit. The pit boss told me that the local pros (whatever that means) play this game differently. For example, they say that these pros "believe" you are supposed to stand on 16', 15's, and 14's versus tens because the rule variation makes it so. When I asked why this was the case, he shrugged, and said that is what the pros "believe. " So much for having math or a sim to back up a decision! gotta love the ploppy logic!:laugh::laugh:

This strange rule seem similar to what the old Barbary Coast used to offer for their unique DD games...the dealer didn't check for BJ with a 10 showing, and you only lost one bet for double downs or splits when they had an ace in the hole. Or am I mistaken?

Sounds like a normal game.

Not checking for BJ prior to Players playing their hands and then the player not losing double downs or splits on a dealer BJ is the same game.

I don't think it is the same game.

If you can manage to hit to 21, is that a push with a dealer BJ? If so, it is a different game.

Under regular rules you would have lost that hand with the early dealer check.
