Double down for others?

In the casino that I used to play, the bet for double down can be less than the original bet (but at least the table minimum). And you are allowed to top it up to the original bet. Should I do that? Is it a valuable bet? Under what condition should it be a valuable bet?

Most casinos will allow that as long as it doesn't conflict with State Laws (can't do it in Missouri because of the individual $500 loss limitation).

You should always try to get onboard with someone's double down, providing it is correct strategy. Likewise, if you split cards on some marginal hands, try to sell them to others. Ex... 8/8 vs. 10 or Ace.
