Effect on certain rules

In Michigan we have a large number of charity poker rooms that offer Blackjack, and I am trying to determine what the is the total effect of the following rules. (I know it is a bad game, just trying to determine how bad).

Non-suited black-jacks pay even money.
Suited black jacks are paid 3-2
All player blackjacks are paid before dealer looks at hole card. (pushes are winners).

This modified blackjack payout scheme is highly deleterious to win-rate. These rules are probably about on par with 6:5 BJ, which is the worst rule that is widely implemented (assuming we are not including dealer wins push, which is like WAY worse than modified BJ payouts.)

But seriously, there are some very good games in MI. I am from MI as well. Get yourself to a store with good rules.

One in four BJs will be suited in the long run, so for every four BJs at $5 a hand you'll recieve $22.50
At 6-5, you'd recieve $24
Winning a hand when you both have BJ helps, but nowhere near what the other rules takes away.

I know the rules are bad, I am just curious about the numbers to discuss with others. Other charity rooms in the area have even worse rules, this room handles pushes, splits, DD as a Detroit Casion would. (Except player blackjack is always paid).

If was going to play I would go to the Downtown Detroit casinos.

I don't play downtown, but I know those who do. The word is that nothing is playable unless you can put up $25-50 minimums.

However, if you play at some of the other MI casinos, you will be able to get an excellent game for $3-5 minimums.

Thanks for the info. Just curious as to what you define as "playable" and what the outstate casinos offer for rules.

You can get $10 tables off peak times downtown that are 3-2 games. Which is what I look at as the first and most important qualifier to a game.

I can't go into specifics about the game that I play, which is indeed playable. Perhaps PM me, and I might be able to talk about it if it is all right with the others that introduced me to the game.

Just because BJ pays 3:2 does not make it playable. I imagine you are probably playing 8 deck games that are H17, NS and cut off 2 decks or more if you are playing downtown for those limits.

I'd consider 6D, 4.5/6 Pen or better, RSPA, H17, and LS playable.

Note that there is more than a 2-fold SCORE difference between the two described games.

P.S.-- You are a counter, right?

In terms of what to look for. Remember that 6D >> 8D.

Penetration is the VERY most important thing.

Surrender is probably the next most important.

Having S17 and RSPA are also nice.

DAS is almost always allowed on shoes, but it too is important.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I appreciate it. No I am not a counter, just an occasional recreational player that plays BS trying to maximize my play time, and minimizing my risk.

RSPA, S17, and LS would be very nice? Where in Michigan can I find this in a $10-$15 dollar game.

Well, in the case that you are not a counter, then no game is playable, by the standards of most on the forum. Your RoR will be 100% because you are playing a losing game.
