Encounter with a dishonest ploppy

Sooner or later it was bound to happen. Often I share doubles and splits with civilians at the table and these plays have been very profitable for me, but recently I ran into a crook and it cost me EV.

There was an older Chinese woman sitting next to me, and she was dealt 77 vs. 5. She didn't have enough money to double, so being that's a nice offensive split I volunteered to take half of it with her and she agreed. I got to double my half. The dealer busts and she hands me back my original two bets.

"Uh, what about the rest?" I asked her.

"I borrow your money. I borrow now I give it back, see?"

"No, that's not the way it works. What would have happened if it lost, would you have paid me back? You couldn't have, you have no money left."

Then she starts pretending she doesn't speak English. What a jerk. In this place I could have called the PC over who would have intimidated her into giving me my money, but I thought the better of it given my role in this casino and didn't. But I did tell her exactly what I thought of her, using language such that no one would have mistaken me for Dr. Albert Schweitzer.

Things were in balance that night, for on the next table I played I was the beneficiary of a dealer error that almost exactly made up for the amount I got screwed out of, and I really killed the casino that night. Up 100 units.

Just one more thing to watch out for- playing other people's hands is very profitable but can also end up like this or even worse- she could have tried to keep my original bets.

You need to make it clear to the person you are going partners with,what the bet is and what you expect back. If you don't,you are just as at fault as the other person.

Much worse: Player to player blackmail

Back when (and not too long ago), when the Hilton had real blackjack, they had this crazy, gruff, loud, drunk who also happened to have a huge credit line and was loved and feared by all their dealers.
The guy loved to play on quarter and lower tables, buying in with 50 grand markers. Get pissed and leave his chips at the table, move to another table and get another marker. I once spotted three security guys just standing at different tables, watching his chips while he played at a fourth table.
Guy would fill toke boxes. He lost a $10,000 bet at my table one hand when the dealer pulled one of those 5 card 21's. Yelled at the dealer and proceeded to bet $100 on the next hand with a $1000 bet out for the dealer and challenged her saying, "bet you will not do that again."

Anyway, he also liked to bet on the hands of anyone he thought was hot. So he puts $5,000 under this woman's $25 bet. The lady gets a blackjack and turns to the guy and says, "give me $1,000 or I double for less!." Forget Elvis, this was now the best show ever at the Hilton. The guy goes nuts, he is yelling, screaming and threatening and being a big losing fish the Hilton is letting him get away with this. Even the casino manager shows up for this hand and makes the proper call. It is the woman's hand and she can play it anyway she wants. With a loud, FU B$%ch, he hands her a grand and she is off straight to the cashier.

Lesson: Let us say you have backcounted but it is no mid shoe entry or just do not want to sit down and you decide to bet on someone elses hand. Do not bet a lot more money than that player bets or you could be blackmailed.

Only once did I place a bet under another player that was much larger than the seated bet, and that was my infamous "blowing" incident where by blowing on a mishandled card I was able to see that the first card of the next round was going to be an ace. No problems and a nice payoff.

Did you hear that the LV Hilton is merging with the Paris? No DD certainly, but I hear the penetration will be very good. No problem with large action. They used not see very much black spread up until a couple of months ago, now they are used to it though. :joker:

Another technique I've heard of when someone backbets you is to just crater your hand, simply out of spite. This is of course mainly useful if the back bettor is a total douche.

Paris is connected to Ballys by a shared garage and is owned by Harrahs. LV Hilton is not,so I'm not sure what AM is talking about.

He is waiting on the sidelines. When Harrah's buys the rights to the name Hilton (hell they buy everything else) and renames Ballys, as Hilton. Then the two joined almost at the hip casinos will be known as the Paris Hilton.

At that time AM representing another Paris Hilton will step in with a massive law suit, Ms Paris Hilton will land up owning the casinos and put AM in charge of all table games. At that point in time, AM will wake up.

Hilton Room Comp's - Just received Invitation

When I first started going to Vegas on a regular basis (3X-Year) I stayed at the Hilton because I new a host from Steubenville, Ohio. He treated me very well covering RFB for all three night stays. Last week I received a post card with same 3 night bullshit, but on the bottom of card it stated that all player comps will be based on a 5 hour rated daily play or no comp. I stopped going there a year or so ago when their table rules changed negative. I called my host about the 5 hour daily rated play clause and he said that was their new policy. I told him to shove his comp offer up his ass.

Has anyone heard of this new policy? I was always under the impression when a casino offers you a three night comp they had to honor it, even if you didn't play at their casino. Without mentioning the daily rated hours required, has anyone ever been turned down of room comp because they did not play. I can understand not receiving another room comp offer in the future for not playing, but can and do casinos today refuse to honor room comps when a player just uses their house for sleeping?
