What kind of trouble can one get into for using a fake id to play blackjack if they are underage?

Do these work for obtaining players cards or do the casinos access some id verification database? Do they check for novelty cards?

By novelty ID I think he means one where you are not pretending to use a government issued ID, such as a driver's license.
I think you can get around that by spelling a word wrong, or changing the wording just slightly. Any thoughts on this zg, you have to know about this. I actually remember a post about this same subject.
But there is almost no chance of getting in trouble. If they find out your using a fake BEFORE you use it, you are simply turned away. If they try to ask for your ID after you have gambled, you can REFUSE to show them and just leave. Just go for it!
In NJ,presenting fake ID at a casino is taken very seriously. If you are caught, you lose your drivers license until you are 21,you lose any state educational financial aid for three years,and can't get any state job for several years.And-if you hit a slot jackpot,the money is forfieted.

Yes, all the hysteria surrounding underaged drinking will be brought down on a person using fake ID for entering a casino even if they're not drinking. My recommendation is to spend your 18-21 years playing online and building your bankroll.
If you can't wait, your best bet is to avoid being carded in the first place. Try some grey hair dye, or walking with a cane.

Yes they work fine - they can look very official but must not say exactly what a real one would say - so if you are capable with the software just make and laminate your own.
Say "Motor Services Vehicle" and on the back "Required to spread to two hands in all positive counts" etc. - clearly novelty. zg

I would think that if you presented "novelty" id,you would be laughed at.If you are sitting at a slot machine and were accosted about your id,and handed a casino agent a fake id,I think you would be held until they determined who you were and how old you were.The trouble would be more for gambling illegally than for presenting fake ids. But thats just a guess.
Several years ago,a friend was escorted off the casino floor for not presenting his id when asked,and he was well over 21.
It sounds to me like presenting a fake governnment issued ID is what will get you in the most trouble, not the underage gambling.

Gambling underage is the crime and they can and will detain you.When I said you'd get laughed at is if a dealer asked to see your id before you sat down and you tried to show a novelty id as proof of age.In NJ,as soon as you buy a chip or put a penny in a slot machine,you are gambling.
Thats not to say that underage gambling doesn't occur on a regular basis. Its just that the people who do get caught,and I have no idea what percentage that is,are dealt with pretty harshly.
I think they are a lot more strict where you live than in ND. Where me and supercoolman cool live it is just bars with a blackjack table. So it's just the dealer and there is no security or pit. If dealers don't even know BS, then can what are the chances that they catch a decent novelty ID?
I wouldn't try it in your area because of the harsh penalties. I just don't think it would be a big deal around here, but I could be wrong.

Around these parts, ID's are almost always checked by security at the door and occasionally a uniformed security guard will walk up to a patron and ask for ID. These casinos are all slot palaces thus it's very easy for someone to disappear once they get in the door so the logical place to check is at the door. Once I saw a pit person ask for ID, but they are supposed to just call security for that if there is a question about someone's age.
I would strongly suggest waiting until 21 for live advantage play. It would be very rare for a 18-21 year old to have a sufficient bankroll for proper AP in an East Coast game. And if someone doesn't have the discipline to avoid an unwise move like playing in a casino when under 21 with fake ID, it's unlikely they have the discipline to play shoe blackjack with an advantage. But... I know they are not going to listen to me.

If you are asked for ID and choose not to present it, how can they detain you on suspicion of being underage if you havent shown them any form of ID? On what are they basing their suspicions that you are indeed underage? And do they care as much if someone is relatively closer to the legal limit, e.g. an underage gambler who is 20 as opposed to someone who is 16?
As I understand it,if the NJ Casino Control Board finds an underage person gambling,the casino fine is five figures or more,so the casinos take it pretty seriously.As for the first part of your comment,I have no wish to engage in a which came first,the chicken or the egg routine.
A word to the wise is sufficent. Fools can read books and not get the point.
Depends on the casino I have friend who got caught. He was winning at Poker they ended up taking his money and backrooming him.

Well, it doesn't matter to me since I recently turned 21.
But I'm pretty sure he's got a sufficient bankroll and is eager to get it into action!

Oh man I just can't decide. I am leaning towards not getting one since I don't want to get into serious trouble. But there sure are a lot of bars with blackjack that I could exploit... Do you think you would get is the same amount of trouble in a bar?
