So I've been trolling around the forums here for a little while and decided it was finally time to get some help.

Over the past couple months I've had an incredible run of cards at Foxwoods, I went all the way from a $15 to a $50 unit in less than two months, with comfortable bankroll padding. The roll is now big enough to make my unit $100, and I wanted to know if I should be upping my camo significantly at this point (since I'll be moving from the main floor at Foxwoods to the Newport [high rollers deck] where they play 6D instead of 8D). In the past my bet spread has been 1-24, but I never seemed to draw much attention from anyone, let alone get heat. I'm thinking I should probably tone it down a notch...I may be able to get away going 1/$25 to 3/$200 at lower tables, but 1/$100 to 3/$800 probably won't fly.

I'm going to Mohegan Sun before I attempt the HR deck at FW, because I've never been there before and they won't know me (despite the awful penetration I've been hearing about). The other thing I was wondering is whether it's a bad thing that I've been moving my unit up so quickly at FW...if I haven't been getting noticeable heat does that mean I'm probably safe?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated in this manner.

Hi, I'm a Foxwoods player too and have been for years.

Congratulations on your good variance! Strongly advise you avoid playing in the Newport room. Everyone I know who has gotten into trouble at Foxwoods, it has involved the Newport room.

You're much better off out there in the jungle with us monkeys, swinging around from table to table. Newport is all no mid shoe entry, and a game where you can come and go as you please blows away any NMS game.

Don't forget to use your comps to buy gift cards, that's a significant part of your EV at Foxwoods.

Mohegan is worth a visit- a little harder to find good pen but it's occasionally there and it will break up your routine and give you less exposure at Foxwoods.

Well, I just played a 6hr session at Mohegan, they took 3.6k off me, so I'm gonna head back down to the $50s for a while anyway.

The penetration was just as bad as everyone says it is, 66-60% (closer to the low end most of the time).

I ran a 1-24 spread with blacks without any scrutiny, but losing probably had something to do with that. Didn't care for the casino that much.

Having just turned 21 (been sneaking into Foxwoods for 3 years now), any info on how to get my comps as gift cards would be great. And do you shop with them, or sell them off to other people for monies?

Easy, just go to the Trading Post, near the Hard Rock. It's 175 Wampum dollars for a $100 Exxon/Mobil/Citgo card and 150 for a $100 Stop & Shop, CVS, or Lowe's card. Should be real easy to consume a $100 gas or grocery card these days, no need to lose any EV by selling it. The value of this comp should come to about 20-25% of your blackjack EV.

Sorry to hear about your loss at Mohegan. I've taken my share of beatings there too. I happen to like the physical environment a little better, but the pen just makes it unacceptable for me.

i had myself, in a similer situation at one time, i had stepped up to the plate at the 25 dollar tables, it was when i was playing three hands of 250 that i first was interigated by a floorperson as to why i stood 16 but hit 15, i also had my first back off playing two hands of 250. Both times this happened i was tired and not putting on an act as i usually do, so i think at that level of play and above some kind of emotion, and superstitious behavior is neccessary.

I now just keep my bets at 150 all the time no more, im satisfied with the return rates. and i rarely get any hastles. Also, i dropped 7 grand over 4 consecutive shoes, and that kinda put me back in the 150 ballpark also.

Deepest I have seen in 2 years is 5d which happened last weekend, but the normal rarity is 4.5-4.75d. (6d)

Worst was 2 weeks ago. Dealer did a blind cut and loped off 3 decks. Ah-sow... cut deck... lucky deck she says to me....I was history.

High counts just dont seem to help when they come in the first 2 of the 6 deck shoe. I had RC of +30 to +40 (level 2) last week in 4-6 consecutive shoes and lost more then in the lower ranges, and the pen was barely ok at 4d-4.5d

Oh yes, and if there are any employees from Mo-Sun reading these posts, maybe this is one of the reasons your customer base has fallen over the past 5 months. Last Saturday it was deserted all day and many open seats all night.

i saw something like less then a deck cut off of a six deck game once last couple days. something like 30-40 cards.. the count tanked right away with no hope of recovery...

At the SUN...
Play at the $10-$15 minimum tables where the max is still $1000 and play a 1-30 or 1-40 spread. Yes, every book, every theorist, and every "wanna be" worries about the pen. Bottom line is it is important, but your ability to spread will offset the marginal pen. Their rules with a 6 deck shoe only gives the house a .334% advantage and even with a 1.5-2 deck cut off it is very beatable. Look for dealers who cut off less, they are there. Your mental approach is sometimes more important then your technical knowlege.

Like I said, play lower stakes with a bigger spread and win!! Unless you are going to make larger than a $1000 bet, why are you on the $100 table. Are you trying to impress someone? Is you session bankroll $20,000? Are you just not understanding? You need to be willing to make $2000 bets to beat the big boys table. You will not consistenly beat their pen with less than a 1-20 spread.

There are dealers who cut less, be patient and be diciplined. Remember that you are always looking for an edge and it's still gambling.

Oh of course, no argument there. I was at the Sun to mix up my exposure a bit...especially since I never play the 100 min tables at FW.

One final thought, we both know that spreading is no problem, so if you think about it...$50 f/w table will provide you with a 1-50 spread if $2500 is your top.Good luck.

I'd probably do it too, but I've never seen a TC of over 15 to actually make it to 50 units lol (and if I'm only spreading two hands, it'd have to be 25).
