First Vegas trip, any suggestions

#1
I'm making my first trip to Vegas Sunday. I've done a decent amount of research, but looking for any suggestions or advice.

I still play mostly for fun, still in the process of learning to count and bet accordingly. I am just using fun money for now. The best I can tell if I want to play 6D S17 I will have to be betting green. That may be OK for me, but Dad is going to be with me and he won't play that high.

What I am mostly looking for advice on is food. Looking for the best spots for breakfast. Also wondering about buffets that may have pizza, as well as just a good place to get a pizza.

Thanks for any help or advice.

2deckers 4U

If I were you, I would play the 2deckers in these casinos:
Code:
Minimum
Bet	Casinos with good 2-deck-games

$25 Mirage
$25 Bellagio
$10 Treasure Island
$25 Bellagio
$50 M
Click Me to see where I go for "luck"
Good luck.

Abenzio's post needs a caveat.

The casinos that he mentions are ALL M.G.M. stores and a barring at one is a barring at all.

Those games are NOT for newbies, even presuming that they have the requisite bankroll.

Those games are surveilled very closely.

They need to be played anonymously for 40 minute Hit & Run sessions.

If he still wants to play at M.G.M. stores; then I suggest playing the 6 deck
shoes; IF he can afford the $25 minimums that are required for better rules.

I would suggest $10 DD games at places like Palace Station, Santa Fe, and Fiesta Rancho.

thanks

Thanks for all the good info.

I will try some 2 deckers out, never played them before. Since they haven't been an option in AC I haven't learned BS for them yet, but will do that before leaving.

I did buy the CBNJ this month and tried out their GC forum. I seem to have found more value reading these forums than over there. The only problem is that this place is blocked at work, while they aren't. Weird.

I'm going to make my list of places to play at before I leave. Kind of an advance scouting to get a feel for each place. Hopefully next trip there I am further along and can start playing at a real advantage.

The M resort isn't MGM related, and I remember seeing much lower minimums last time I was there. ($15-$25, certainly no more than $25)

You are a newbie? Play anonymously and blast away. DO NOT use a players card.

When you have figured out what you're doing as regards comp whoring and camouflage, you can start using a players card.

None of those MGM games are particularly good 2D games; the rules are decent enough but the pen tends to be unremarkable. High heat there these days, too. There's nothing sensitive about any of it.

Mmmm... breakfast

I'm with Flash on the 2 decker at Palace Station, decent game for a small bankroll.

Now for the food...

Breakfast, cheap and good? Ellis Island. It's pretty hard to find a BAD breakfast in my opinion. (I know I'm gonna' get an earful on that one, lol.)

Now pizza, bring Dad over to Grimaldi's. Pretty hard to beat. If you really like Italian food then get off the strip and go to Chicago Joe's, you will not be disappointed.

Hope you and Dad have a good time!

It's good to have a 2nd opinion on TI's 2deckers in favor of another APs' recommendations. This forum really serves APs well, and it's free!
Will be in Las Vegas soon and will try TI's double deck games. Will use cover plays, but hope to be backed off and placed in the Surveillance Information Network covering all strip hotels. The highlight of the trip will be a backoff from CityCenter's Aria casino just for playing winning blackjack at a $10 DD game at another joint.

You are so weird! Why is a back off such an honor to you? Other than you can write about it in your "column". Most people here have a goal to extract as much funds as possible from the casinos.

That is weird, jason. when I was a newbie.....well, when I was a NEW newbie, I thought it was cool getting backed off, but now I've been running into some bad and obvious counters lately, who get backed off in a heartbeat. Actually now I like gloating about the fact that I can sit next to some really bad counters, raise my bets the same time they do, and I still don't get backed off!!!:laugh::laugh: The PC came over and stared at the other guy only!!

If the goal is to extract as much as possible at card counting, we must be willing to shove the money out on high counts and risk a backoff. Its been 13 years since my last barring because I know how to not attract heat. Because I was a dealer, I know how to interact with the pit which reduces the possibility of a barring to nearly zero. It's the surveillance room that uses all the hi tech gadgets such as FRS and SIN that will get you someday.

But that's NOT what you said. You said you "hoped to be backed off and placed in the SIN covering all strip hotels. that the highlight of the trip would be a back off from Aria".

OK,OK kewljason, I am being sarcastic about being backed off at Aria. My goal is to win in Las Vegas unscathed, but hoping for the best and planning for the worst is hardwired in me. If I am placed in SIN, you can bet it will make national news and Las Vegas will be reflected in a negative light.
