I recently wonged in to a table, betting blacks. The dealer was paying me in greens and I asked him why (as the green pile started growing pretty big!) He said if he paid blacks he had to call it out to the floor. This way he didn't have to. Was he doing me a favor or just being lazy?

black action in play is a real bummer - and the greens draw less attention - even big piles and harder to count too in reality as the bosses usually are watching 4-5 tables and if they pay you black - put them in your pocket or your girlfriends purse or stockings .

I think he was doing you a favor AND being lazy. It would be easier to rathole a few of the greens. Downside is that if you win, you'd have a crapload of greens when you left the table, and it would be embarrasing when you colored up or if they had to do a fill.
I wish I had such problems.
