Half-shoed at a Strip casino?!

I was recently half-shoed at a major Strip casino. Any thoughts as to why that happened as opposed to the usual, "you're welcome to play any game besides Blackjack"? Anyone else ever have this happen in LV?

If it matters, there was one other player at the table, betting bigger than me, and I was playing anon.

Does It Really Matter?

What if it was aimed at the other player, do you know? Do you think you should risk going back to that place anytime soon? I would stay away this trip and perhaps the next couple if it won't be missed.

Probably just a warning shot. They may not have been 100 percent sure of their suspicion and wanted to test your reaction. There is no set rules on heat. Most places will just back you off, but others play games, such as half-shoeing, or pit personel engaging in meaningless conversation attempting to distract you, sometimes bringing in a faster dealer, maybe the stare-down, ect. Most likely your reaction to these moves will confirm their suspicions. Out of curiosity, what was your reaction? did you leave immediately? It's really the only thing to do. The chances of anything you do or say, changing their suspicion of you is remote and you are just giving away EV trying. I would try to exit as quickly and quietly and hopefully forgetable as possible. Especially playing unrated. Live to fight another battle.

After the first round the RC was +4, so I figured I'd hang around a few hands rather than getting up immediately. So, played a few hands, then left.

probably didnt want to scare away the bigger bettor by getting "tough" in front of him. ive seen the pit let a counter keep on playing because they didnt want to approach him while another bigger bettor was at the table. i assume they didnt even flat bet/half shoe him in order to not raise suspicion of the other bettor. as soon as he got up and left the table to cash out though, they approached him.

needless to say though, i would still play at that joint, just avoid that shift and/or pit crew. might give it a few weeks to settle down in case they decide to print your picture and leave it with the pits.

I was at a casino once playing DD with an obvious non counter sitting to my left. The count was crappy and I had not spread more than 3-1 in about 20 min of playing and he was all over betting side bets, two hands to one hand to two hands and HE was getting heat. I assume it was only because he actually won a couple but it was pretty funny.
