High Count Adventure

#1
I had been stalking the bank of slots all day, watching the reels, keeping the count, and wonging in and out. The other players were all slotties—no real skill. They didn’t even know Basic Slotegy.

They would rush to double down on a cherry, but would stay on a two-line pair of oranges—go figure. They were scared and tired, shivering like a bunch of rhesus monkeys in the rain.

I kept a running count on one particular machine, and it just kept rising. Hour after hour with lots of fruit, a few bars, but practically no big red sevens or sparkling gold mines. Finally, when the count was +200, I wang in.

The other players stared at me with their tired, vacant slot eyes. I started with one unit, and after five pulls the count had gone through the roof. I had spread from 1 to 12 units, and the Slot Critters had started giving me the eye. I could feel the heat on the back of my neck.

It was now or never. I went to the max bet, and before anyone could say anything, hit the button. The reels spun, and the count came through: five gold mines all on the center line.

I had won the progressive: $12 million! The coins started spilling out of the machine. Twelve million in quarters might take awhile, I thought.

I began scooping coins and rat holing like crazy. Soon my pants weighed over 45 pounds.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was an SC. “We don’t like reel trackers and lemon counters here,” he said. “You need to leave.”

I had been backed off all slots, even Wheel of Fortune. Damn casinos.

No big deal, though. I’ll just go back to blackjack, where I can make some REAL money.
