I started playing Blackjack at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana. Does anyone in the forum play there and had good success.

I been off and on with the sessions there, I believe my biggest has been $450.

I play the $5 or $10 tables and do a progressive 1 - 5 units betting

3 to 2, 8 deck, no sur, h17, split any cards, aces only once and double down after split

A few reasons:

You say you're following a progression. No mention of counting. A progression is a losing strategy, period, regardless of spread.

If you're counting, for an 8D, H17 game, depending on penetration, you need at least 1-12.

Okay understandable
I am using a KISS counting with an 8d, h17, pen is about 85%
I'm going to move towards 1-10 when BR is bigger and better counting
Progressive in the TC moving to plus
Tc +1 = $5
Tc + 2 = $10
Tc+3= $15

OK, gotcha. The problem is if you're doing play-all, your BR won't grow at that spread. Suggest you just backcount and wong in at +2 and wong out at 0.

I have only gotten serious in playing in the last year. I have been able to travel around with my job and has place me close to a lot of casinos from the big easy to southern Indiana. In most of the cases you can find a $5 table with 3-2, 8 deck game good pen. No surrender split on any two with double down after.

I was reading the article for counting cards and 8 deck is as bad as 6-5 game. Would it be better to play with the same rules with 2 deck at high table $25? Or stay at $5 8 deck game until BR is bigger. I do have great job so resupply my BR is not an issue

Bankroll is at $1k , I know the BR will not support a great spread at $25. Should I flat bet in order to build a better BR then open up to a spread in order to have a better game and ev

Play the 8 deck game with 85% spread. I don't know how big of a spread you will need. 1-12 is the minimum. Might want to spread even bigger. I wouldn't even consider playing if you'r spread is smaller. I suggest wonging out at -1 or greater.

Where did you read that? It's a ridiculous statement, and they should be shamed for it. 8 decks with good pen are very good games.

reread article, sorry for an misleading statement with "it is as bad as". In the 3rd paragraph of the article, it is talking about with the worst rules playing an 8 deck game would be better than an 6:5 table

it is great article in the dangers of the 6:5 game and how it is taking over the blackjack tables. you can find them in Ohio and IL with 6:5 at lower limits and higher ones having 3:2

I’m very familiar with Horseshoe Hammond and don’t ever remember seeing 8D at all? Did I miss something?

Also, I know my response is many months late to this thread...

aceK, just based on the couple posts you’ve made in this thread, you really need to read a few books before anything else. In one of your final posts, you asked if you should flat bet in order to build up your 1K bankroll... I suggest a little more study.
