How effective is it to only play when the count is high?

#1
For example, I stand and watch (count the cards) until the deck is highly in my favor. Like +20 or something and then sit down and bet like $100-$500. And leave the table after I play.

Will I get a lot of unwanted attention if I do that? My goal would only be to do it once or twice and hope i'd win.

What do you think?

Thanks!

It would be quite effective in terms of your edge. That's why many casinos have instituted either no mid-shoe entry, or limit your bets if you come in the middle of a shoe.

Still, there are plenty of places that still allow mid-shoe entry, and you can probably do this pretty regularly without problem, if the casino is pretty busy. On the other hand, if you are playing at a casino where the bet size you describe is unusual, you'll probably quickly be approached by the pit about your play.

There's no doubt that getting only the good parts of the game is more profitable than playing through all the crud. Just be aware that when all of your results are summed in a few hands of play, your losing streaks can seem to last forever.

Ken pretty much covered it. Most higher limit tables ($100+) do not allow mid shoe entry nor to they allow you to stand there and watch. If your not playing the PB could ask you to leave that area. There is usually a sign that says "Player Only" when you enter that area.

I have even seen some of the lower limit ($25) tables that did not allow mid shoe entry.

But let me tell you something, if I ever had a true count of Plus 20 I would jump into that shoe ASAP (if allowed) and unload my bankroll and I would advice you to do the same thing.

If you want to jump in and out of hands you need to be creative or they will catch on to you very fast, esp if you start to win a lot.

Thanks for the info. I'm a really low roller though so, i'll prolly bet like $10 when the count is really high :) I jump in and leave right away all the time. If i'm up even if its by $50 I like to stay that way.
