How to handle being shuffled on

I was spending the weekend playing BJ over halloween expecting the extra festivities and costumes to be a distraction for the staff. A lot of dealer errors proved me right, but...

I was doing my thing at a place where I have gotten away with massive bet spreads, though this time I was betting a bigger unit and not spreading quite as much.

I noticed a bunch of extra suites in the pit and didn't think much of it. I spread from 1 hand to 2, raising my bets as I've done many times. I was down about $2k and playing the "titled loser" part when a PC that I didn't recognize walked over to the dealer and told him to shuffle NOW. He then looked right at me.

There was one other player at the table and she was completely confused and a little upset. I've been backed off a few times in other places, but for whatever reason this was my first pref shuffle.

Do you just keep those max bets out and take the hit? Color up and get out of there? Raise hell and accuse them of cheating?

Also, I was playing with my player card. Is it likely that they added a "note" to my account? I was in the high limit pit which isn't normal for me, and I have a feeling they watch those games more closely...

Just leave. They're on to you. Your player's card is now history.
If you want to go back, go on a different shift and play anon. Keep away from that shift for several months, if you've been a regular.

You are not cheating, playing the game as offered and they #uck with you.

This is why many AP's literally go to war with most casinos.

yes, leave w/o incident...too funny getting backed off while down a couple g's, but it happens...there is a place that I only get to play during Halloween, I must be part of their morning call: "ok everyone, deal fast and accurate and if you see "sharky" => 40% pen" :laugh:..."and if that doesn't work, shuffle after 2 hands" :flame:....ok, I gotcha...time to leave

Pref. shuffle is like a "first step" level of defense for the casino. Chances are good it was the pit bosses call and didn't come from the eye in the sky which means they didn't take the time to evaluate your play. There's also a good chance that you are not a marked man yet. I would just stay away from that casino for a month or so and in the meanwhile work on your cover. Play other places, keep your sessions short and work on your game. There is a strong possibility you will be able to return without a problem if you come back with a better game and give it a little time. I'd also avoid the HL pit when you come back. Like CP said this is war and sometimes you have to retreat and regroup...JtMM

It's good to use camouflage but not at the big expense of your EV...

I had this same thing happen to me last time I was in downtown vegas. The pit boss yelled from across the pit as soon as I popped out a massive spread, and I obviously knew that it was becuase of me. I had my beer in my other hand, and almost instantly proceeded to start chugging a bit of it, making it seem like I didn't even notice the dealer shuffling. I left the bet out there for the next hand after the shuffle, and for the next couple of hours I could get away with whatever spread I wanted. Deffinately worth it in this case!

Using this strategy you would only be betting in neutral (first hand) or positive counts, because every time the count drops you raise your bet and the dealer shuffles.

Definitely just leave. But if there are other players at the table I try to act stupid and get the other players riled up. "Oh they're shuffling the shoe before the cut card?" "Must be because we've been winning, I'm not playing here anymore, they dont like winners!"

That outta hurt their bottom line which gives me some self gratitude inside. Especially at a property I won't be able to return to.
