MIT did not have a blackjack team.A bunch of students at MIT had a BJ team. Are you really as dense as to not no the difference?
Why does it always have to be a personal attack? Can't you just say "it was the students, not the school".

Because I'm tired of his constant misinformation on the simplest things. All his advice is straight out of whatever book he happens to be reading and 90% of the time he mangles it anyway. MIT had a blackjack team. Give me a break. Whats next? Cal-Berkely had an LSD team?

So, you're saying that he's wrong that MIT had a blackjack team, right? Would you say that that is extremely important information to know? Is that on the same level as system sellers who deserve to be flamed?

Team play is not appropriate until you have significant experience with individual play, and in my opinion, not until you have significant experience with business and human nature too.

Get out there, trash a couple of trip bankrolls and see what it's like to get thrown out of a casino all by yourself. Don't worry, you'll do it all eventually! Then come back with understanding of how and why you would want to play on a team. The chances are good you might not want to do it at all.

Yes,when the whole purpose of this thread is about getting a school to recognize an official Blackjack Club, then the fact that MIT did not have an official team is a bit relevant. Now excuse me while I go see if I can figure out how to use the ignore this user button.Have a nice life.

i say go for it, you only live once. you're talking about putting together a once in a life time kind of thing... any kind of thing you put together, imo, is better than something you don't.

but i'd do a two tier thing... like make the club just about academic pursuit of AP... maybe even do training sessions on BS and counting. but the unofficial club is where you do trips to casinos, share a bankroll, etc. etc.

As a parent, i would not want my child to attend this club, since it would encourage or develop a bad habit of my child to try "what he learned" in the real casino. Plus, it could deter his dreams of being whatever he wants to be. Moreover, i can see bored kids going to this meeting and then meeting up at the nearest casino to try their strategies and stuff; and who knows, they may get enticed by watching some1 win thousands on a slot machine, or thousands at the blackjack or craps table.

So, at my college, I am starting a Blackjack team. We will really have no affiliation with the school at all, but in order to reserve classrooms and use their mailing list systems, I need to register with the school.

I am going to call it a "Blackjack Club". I will need to give it a description and also get an advisor, and my question is:

How fond do you think a college would be about a blackjack team that will be studying AP to take casinos money? Should I just tell them we "Study the game of blackjack" or "Have fun playing cards"?

Thanks,

David
Don't even bother. What do you know about real advantage play. You will only lead people to generic counting skills that lead to nothing. Keep your primitive skills to yourself and teach nothing. You are weeks from needing a babysitter, play the game until you have really seen it, then consider spreading your knowledge. Until then wipe your nose and learn a little more about what you think you know.

Wow, great to see we have a true blackjack intellectual among us. Your words inspire trust and confidence in your abilities.
