Don't move your lips with the count. Sounds funny, but I actually SAW someone doing this once.:laugh:

Try not to get caught staring at the cards on the table.

If the floorman says something to you, look him straight in the eye & answer him, even if it means losing the count.

Eventually, this skill will just COME to you.
 
How to pretend not be a counter? Thats easy act like 95% of those posting here. Cry about cheating casinos, overbet your bankroll, cloud your play with countless cover plays that ruin EV, listen to no one that has a clue how to play because you know it all already,fool youself into thinking getting drunk at the table actually makes you a better player, be overly paranoid of every move the pit personnel make because of course they're after you, worry more about how fast you can count instead of how well you play, make thousands of posts on bj internet message boards to raise your player status, and above all, talk much more about the theory of the game and apply it very sparingly.

Or you could just examine the ploppies that play the game and emulate their moves that actually can be used by that of someone playing with an advantage. Their can be a very fine indistinguishable line between what a good experienced counter looks like and what a ploppy looks like. Make that line fuzzy without killing your advantage and you have it.
 
I also read that CC's usually have their stacks of chips perfectly maintained, and always bet in specific increments.

I agree, showing some emotion, no matter how forced, can help. Laughing, looking relaxed, talking to the people around you, etc.

Also, I wouldn't be too worried about raising your bet as much as lowering it. I see gamblers chase losses and try to get even all the time. It is not that uncommon for someone to go from $10 - $100+. But it is unusual for them to immediately go back to $10. So for me, if I have my max bets out, I leave when the shoe ends (or the count drops) so I fit the profile of someone "going all in" or trying to get even. If I am going to keep playing, I usually take a break to eat or play poker and then return to a different pit.

Basically, what YOU'RE saying is: The way to pretend you're not a counter is to stop counting cards, and then BECOME a ploppie.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
