argg i took a 150 unit swing at a good rule double decker in the northeast :) amazing isnt it? s17 3:2 dealer had a hole card split to four hands das 65% pen

Anyway to the point....
im at a table the count is up there and i have max bet out at the 15 min table two players to the front of me said they never played before and i offered to help because i got to buy all their double downs and splits :) but that didnt matter! the one hand that bothered me was their hand was 19 mine 16 3rd base 13 vs dealer 10... ok i dont say anything i assume they would stand as they have been all night after i told them stand on 17.... nope! hit it! the dealer dosent even budge he immediatley starts to hit it as the player trys to wave it off... there was my card the 5 for my 21 arggg ok whatever ill live i hit my hand and bust with the eight for 3rd bases 21! she hits and busts with a ten.... well that sucks dealer turns over 17... that was an upseting hand

the night did not get better of course

i wish i could get a tape of this because ive never seen it before
at the 8 decker table i was playing with another counter his hand 99 mine 77 vs dealer six. We both split and each get to four hands and on our second card pull for 17's and 19's on every one. Dealer turns over 16 hits to a twenty... oh well sucks but who cares... I do after i split my 7's to four hands and hit to a 17 two more hands in a row! so 12 7s in three hands come on not cool.. didnt win a single one... there was another quick 70 unit loss...

end my first ever rant

I feel for you on this one bear in mind it's gonna happen. I usually don't let it bother me either but if it continues I walk. I don't care what anyone says I've tried to sit at tables by myself to avoid these people. No sooner than I get halfway thru the shoe with a good count bingo!, Mr. I never played before shows up. I have asked them to wait til the shoe is done or a few more rounds with no avail. I'll walk away anymore from idiots that screw up the shoe cause it slows me down too much. blackchipjim

Yeah, it really stinks when other players' dumb decisions screw you up. We all know mathematically it makes no difference what other players do, but in the heat of the moment it hurts when you double your 10 to a 20, the guy next to you hits 15 against an upcard of 5, draws a 10 and busts, and the dealer starts drawing, flips over his hole card and reveals a face, and draws a 6 for a perfect 21! Ugh.

However, there's also plenty of times the idiot next to you makes a dumb play, and he helps your hand. It really all evens out.

The only time I leave the table is if the other players are being really obnoxious or annoying me with how long they think about what to do. I was playing one day, and some greasy jerk with a tremendous B.O. problem sits next to me. He then proceeds to give me all kinds of **** about not placing the Perfect Pairs side bet. I remind him that he's been losing that bet ever since he sat down. He continues, saying "you gotta lose a few bets! That way the deck is primed to give you a perfect pair!" (what the hell?) So, in an effort to get him to shut up, I put a $10 bet for the Perfect Pair. As luck would have it, I get dealt two 4s of diamonds! The guy shouts out "what the hell is going on here?" And I tell him- "What can I say? Your karma is rubbing off on me!" I left after that. I couldn't stand him.

feel your pain

yeah, imho there is a super dooper lesson in this sort of stuff and it's something we all know.

i mean heck if your a confused an individual like me for all this probability stuff, EV, Std Dev and ROR, it's kind of comforting or at least dispells some of the confusion to realize that at any given time, maybe don't expect to much, it's just a shot at a good chance sort of thing, about the best you can do. might work out might not, painful as that maybe.
that and knowing your supposed to lose more hands than you win can at least help us realize the God's aren't really against us, just the casino is.

haha no no never a believer of the flow... I had to shut one guy up at the table who was a "tutor" teaching some guy to play saying you have to play on your gut feeling on the stiff hands and dont always double 11 vs a 5 and all this stuff. when the dealer said well you should you should hit that he goes why dont you shut the f up we all know you work for thius place go f yourself. He was pulling stunts like this the entire time i had to explain computer simulations, math long term all the good stuff. I shouted it all out in a matter of seconds. It shut him up for about ten min he decided to play and droped 50 units

Bad Players...

The only time I would walk away from ploppies is if they are obnoxious, telling me how to play coupled with me losing. I have a short fuse for that when I am losing. But we all know that a player making a bad play can only hurt you if he takes a card in a high count that forces the dealer to shuffle.

I asked a woman who I played with often who liked to say she was, "Lucky". She was more or less a BS player misplayed most of her 18's. She was winning and was telling me how not playing hands the same is "Unlucky" I was using index plays and winning as well. She would groan when sometimes I would hit 12v2 sometimes wave. I asked her, "If you are so lucky why do you play basic strategy all the time, is it a lucky system?" She grumbled something and left.

That's why I very rarely discuss BJ at the table with players. I have found out that 99% make mistakes one way or another when then ask me why I made that play I just say " I do what I have to do to give myself the best chance of winning that hand."

I have left the table because of other players only twice in my life. The first time, this woman had a blackjack strategy chart, and she looked at it for every single play. Including twenties. She was slowing the game too much, so I left. The second time, this guy had terrible B.O. I couldn't take it, so I left.

Yes I've left a table due to odor too. I think the guy shat his self.

Leaving a table due to slowness is an important move for your EV not just your comfort. I've abandoned tables for that reason many times. But never during a good count of course.

With a max bet out and a count that is 'up there'. I don't know why you would be hitting your 16 vs 10. Probably for the same reasons you are complaining about how others play their hands.

Misplayed 18's

The sign of a real ploppie to someone who is just a BS ploppie is the way they play their soft 18's and their 9,9's.

Someone who wont split 9,9 or hit or double a,7 should not be allowed to play as the rake will be userous.

Stay 16v10

Count adjusted basic strategy.
The first play deviation is to wave 16 v 10 in any positive count.
In the story above the poster was going to hit his 16 in a high count which goes against count adj basic stategy which doesn't make any sense to an AP who is counting.
