I'm not sure I'm suited for this

Maths degree means nothing in terms of counting.

The hardest thing for me to take was losing £800 in 2 shoes time. Once you are ready, how much is your bank roll ?

What does AP stand for ???

My view is that anyone who has the smarts to figure out how to post to this forum has more than enough brainpower to count. It's not so much about math as it is a mechanical skill that just takes practice to master.

It becomes easy over time, but it does take time to deal with the mechanical task.

I've been on the internet for years and have made a living off it for a good many of them. If I could get paid for spending time on specialty info forums, I'd be retired by now.
 
Adding? Really i should have payed attention in school.

I have to use my fingers still. I also use foot position. I have trouble keeping the count. I can't add the cards in my head either in fact i use my fingers. Having said that. the first two times i went I lost $40. That was 7 weeks ago. I am $1000 up now. i only take $100 at a time. So i SUCK at math, spelling, history, well school and i still make money by counting cards.

Thus, your expectation is dramatically repugnant. Almost as bad as carnival games.

Anyone who tells you that they can easily / regularly make money at BJ where the house is paying
6 to 5 on blackjacks is either deluded or has chosen to lie to you (and probably to himself as well).

This was probably 5 years ago. All the accountants were playing. It was before I learned how to play.

The last time I was in Vegas (January), I went to my favorite small casino on the Strip (we stay at Caesar's for this conference), sat down at a table - then read the felt. Perhaps I was a little loud when I declaimed the 6:5 payout on blackjack before I got up and left. :p

lol, you only take $100 with you when you go to casino?

Care to share your BR and what is your bed spread?

What do you do in a middle of a shoe, got hot yet you lost your $100, do you just leave?

One of the things I still find a bit tricky is keeping the count when the dealer is adding up my cards and screaming the total at me. For example, if the RC is -16 ( I use KO ), and the dealer says "17," I have to be careful to not unconsciously change the count to -17, just because the last number I heard was "17."
 
Speaking generally, only simply math is involved. It's all memorization, reading everything you can, and months of continuous practice, practice, practice.

Only then are you ready to try and perfect your act. Ultimately, you must not act nervous at the tables. You must seem just like a regular gambler: talking, laughing, steaming, "drinking"--not moving your eyes about too much; looking like you don't care about the cards--and never staying too long. Your act is the key, and the casino is your stage.

My 2 cents thus far.
