Invitations to tournaments?

#1
Hello all, 1st time poster, enjoy reading here.
Going to Vegas soon, staying at Paris, 1st time at Harrah's properties. My goal is to play enough to get on the list for invitational BJ tournaments (at any of their properties). 3 days & 3 nights, my bankroll for BJ is $1500 per day. I usually play at $10 tables, but am guessing i need to be green to get any attention at all on the strip.
Think I have any chance? Planning on getting in 6-8 hours play per day if my br holds out.

Are you flat-betting, counting, or wild-ass-guessing?

The good news is that if you're playing $10 or $15, $1500 should last nearly infinitely.

I have no idea on the criteria for bj tournies, I'd recommend asking the player's club folks and pit bosses.

BS with some wild ass guessing thrown in. I'm a good tipper so maybe that will count w the pit boss.
I've done ok with BS, but bumping up to $25 could be steep. I like that cushion of falling back to $5 or $10 minimum when the cards get cold.
I don't get to the casinos but maybe once or twice a year. Hope to get on a fun table, drink my miller lite, and play till someone says...hey it's lite outside
Anyways, I'll try this strategy at Paris (T-36 days)..and stop by the Caesars Pussycat Dolls lounge..and see how really bad the rules are there.

My thinking is..I could go to OG & drop $500 for sure...or try this Pussycat doll lounge, as bad as the BJ rules are..luck out & win $500...and then go to OG....:celebrate

You don't want to play at Caesars Pussycat Dolls lounge. It has possibly the worst rules in the world. if I remember correctly, it was 8 decks, h17, Double only on 10,11 no surrender, I think you could only split once and no doubles after the splits.

Wow , I figured it was bad but not that bad, probably 6:5 also. Oh well, may still drop in just to check it out, shouldn't be that busy Mon-Wed. I'll let ya'll know how it goes just for laughs.

Thanks Asia for the info also, shuffle after every hand. I wonder if they do that at the little casino BJ tournaments too, or just for the real ones. 30 hands or so would take awhile.

When I dropped by Caesar's the Pussycat area wasn't open yet, but from the felt, it looked like, unfortunately, the same rules as lower-roller Caesar's, D 9,10,11, no surrender, no DAS.

I think it was the Flamingo that had a group of tables right by the entrance staffed by cute dealers in go-go boots. Probably not as quality as the Pussycat area or the Playboy Club, but legitimate shoe games at least.

They shuffle after every hands.
Check out the Imperial Palace (another Harrah's property). Some of their tournaments are SD dealt to the bottom.

Obviously this is a rarity, but you never know. I’ve seen some tournaments dealt from a 6D shoe with decent penetration.

I think in the thousands of events I've played, I've only seen one tournament where they shuffled after every hand. It was a single deck, and some of the regulars had complained about card counting players having too big an advantage.

Of course, that's ridiculous anyway. I rarely count in tournaments any more, except the nice Imperial Palace situation that Sonny described. In most tournaments, a skilled player's edge comes from tournament skills, not card counting skills.

Not much of a tournament player but

Counting means little at tournaments, especially the main thing you get from counting, bet sizing. If the count has tanked but you need to put out a huge bet in a tournament to advance, you must put it out.
The smaller benefit of counting is play strategy and these are perhaps more useful if you know the count.

Does anyone get free entrance to the IP single deck tournaments?
I don't know the answer to this. Most tournaments with open 'retail' events are willing to comp the entry fees of good players, but I'm not sure about the IP in particular. If you think this might apply to you, you might want to ask this question over at https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/

If some players are getting comped, you'll probably get a response there.

One troublesome note... The recent IP tourney over Easter weekend was cancelled due to low signups. Since noone knew there was a problem brewing, there were quite a few players who intended to just head over on that Friday and sign up, but the event was cancelled a few days before that.
