Is there any point?

Thanks for all the input guys. I plan to go to the casino in the next 2 weeks. For the past week I have been reading and studying Blackjack at least 4 hours a day and count cards for at least 2 of those hours using the hi lo method. Lots to learn but slowly its becoming an obsession.....
For a new counter in a casino, keeping the count AND deck estimation for TC conversion can be daunting. You might want to consider an unbalanced count.

Ah well, screw the math. Personal experience trumps all in the short term.
I never said "screw the math". I was talking about "expectations", and if you walk into a casino expecting to win 60% of hands played you're going to have a problem. If you expect to win 43% of hands played right off the bat you may still have a problem because negative variance can strike at any time, and new counters seem to be it's biggest victim. It's best to start off conservative and not expect too much. If things do go well right from the start, great.

Wow, the kids must have really gotten on your nerves this week. ;)

I have been looking into hi lo and have been running through a deck just simply counting looking to end with 0 which I can do pretty well.
Don't count the deck down to zero, take 3 cards out of the deck before you count it down, this will give you an unknown answer at the 'end' of the deck, then you should be able to work out what cards are left. This stops your subconscious from just saying "Zero! I'm right again!"

Good to be back here!

I have played using only BS and have won meaning I left with more money than I started with. I am just a casual player. I would say I am a conservative better.

If you haven't played in a casino I would think to go and try to follow BS and have some fun. I am no expert but I alway try to have a good time.

I'm finally going to Vegas next week and I am looking forward to actually counting cards and using BS. I have been practicing so look out Vegas :)
