Ken Uston Team Question

#1
I just watched a History Channel special called "Blackjack Man" all about Ken Uston and his teams, and I have a question about something I heard.

One of the guys who was on the team said that

- "We had a 1/20 chance of going broke and a 19/20 chance of doubling our bankroll
- "Our goal was to double our bankroll every weekend we played. If we went with 50k, we would aim for 100k"

Ok, I dont see how that is possible. How can you have such a small risk of ruin but still DOUBLE your bankroll in such a small amount of time???

Alternatively we could be talking about 2 different bankrolls.
Say they wanted to double 50k in a weekend, that would be a trip bankroll. So you could play a fairly high ROR in comparison to the trip bankroll without playing that high a ROR for your overall bankroll.

Also I think that was in an era of deeply dealt games with very favorable rules.

Nobody had a clue what a Big Player was, I think. Did Kenny pretty much invent that?

"Million Dollar Blackjack" was probably one of the first books on BJ I ever read and Uston APC the first system I learned.

Al Francesco was the one who invented it. Uston was the one who exposed the technique to the public.

That doesn't sound right. In one of his later books, the teams he was putting together would double their bank in anything from a week to half a year.

That's just silly since there is no allowance for doing neither.

But doubling even a trip bankroll in a couple hundred hours of play half the time isn't unrealistic with a fairly small ROR I think.

6-8 guys on a team could rack that up on a weekend pretty easy. Even without enormous spreads.

How many of u guys figure out how long u think it will be before bankroll is doubled?
