I don't know the math on that one exactly, but I would imagine you are close to playing to a "push" in the long run with that spread and knowing few of the indices. If anything, use all of the indices for 6D in the KO book--think of it this way, the rest of those indices are basically double 10 & 11 vs. anything, double 9 vs. 2-7, double 8 vs. 5 & 6, stand on 12 vs. 2 & 3....you get my drift. They are easy to remember.d-down21 said:If I spread 1-4 in a six deck game with surrender only using insurance and sixteen against a ten as index plays will I be playing with a "positive" expectation?
Is the "pivot point" in ko always one above the insurance count?........no matter how mny decks being used?
it depends on the rules of the game. if it is H17, then most likely not.d-down21 said:If I spread 1-4 in a six deck game with surrender only using insurance and sixteen against a ten as index plays will I be playing with a "positive" expectation?
Stupid me ...........leaving out that critical bit of info .........it will be a S17 game.Mimosine said:it depends on the rules of the game. if it is H17, then most likely not.
if you are using all 16 or so index plays, PLUS the surrender index plays, then you will be above break even, but only barely. if you wong out of bad counts, and backcount into a few good shoes then you will be +EV for sure.
for an LS H17 game there are about ~6 times you surrender in neutral counts (using BS) with an additional ~4 times you surrender in + counts.
for a S17 game, there are about 4 times you surrender in neutral counts (using BS).
if you are in a H17 game and are not using surrender properly even a 1-6 spread won't get you break even.
I would say 40seconds is NOT fast enough unless you have a painfully slow dealer. You are far too error prone. Take a pack of cards everywhere with you and when you watch TV or use the bathroom count down the deck. Once you are under 30seconds you should be good for casinos. You will also have to increase your spread and wong out a lot to see real results over the long term.d-down21 said:Stupid me ...........leaving out that critical bit of info .........it will be a S17 game.
Gonna be my 2nd attempt at counting I can now count down a deck in 40 seconds ........From what I have read that still might not be fast enough..........Oh well wish me luck.

Be able to count down a deck quickly is good, but you need to take it a bit further with your practice. Deal out to several hands and with a dealer having a hole card like at the casino. Figure out HOW you will count as a game is dealt--that's where practice becomes useful.Brock Windsor said:I would say 40seconds is NOT fast enough unless you have a painfully slow dealer. Yes you are right 40 secs is still not quite fast enough...............Still need to shave about 10 - 15 secs. off my time...................However I did find it easier than my first time out of the box..............The key I think is to recognize the value of pairs of cards quicker.Brock Windsor said:I would say 40seconds is NOT fast enough unless you have a painfully slow dealer. No, the bets are ramped between the key count and pivot point.shadroch said:When using KO,aren't there only two bets?
You make one bet when the count is low and one when the count reaches the key point.
That is how KO-Rookie works. KO-Preferred has betting ramps.shadroch said:When using KO,aren't there only two bets?

You may have that mixed up with the concept that there is two points at which you make index play deviations...I guess three if you count insurance.shadroch said:When using KO,aren't there only two bets?
