Michigan trip report

#1
Greetings everyone,

I just returned from my weekend trip to Michigan.

Greektown had a slew up $10 CSM and packed. The only "decent" tables were $25 min. 6d, with 60% pen. Close set up with PB watching everything happening on this tables. He poked his nose over most doubles or splits. We won back to even and left.

Motor city was another stop and place I won't revisit. 6:5 on everything but 50 min. Clientile was rough and more worried about sucker bets than BS.

That's terrible, especially when MGM Grand has the best game. Their games in vegas are for the most part a hot pile of garbage unless you're playing $25 dollar + then you can get a relatively normal double deck game.

I have family members with property in both Paradise and Brimley. The free Sunday tournaments in St. Ignace years ago were fun.

Naturally, there's a trade off and you'll find "Hell" near Lansing.

Years ago while on vacation I stopped in the Kewadin at St Ignace. To my surprise every other hour blackjack was paid at 2:1. I think this was like a month long thing on a certain day of the week. Back then I was too dumb to exploit a good thing that doesn't come along to often.

Head your car north. The farther north you go the better the games get. When you cross the big bridge you will find yourself close to paradise.
I might make the trip up. Honestly I have never been that far North....but agree, the table selection of the two I mention suck. Thanks for the feedback, MWP!

I'll give one. The pen is not as bad as you reported. In fact, many shoes deal 5.5/6.
Thanks Larry. My sampling was only a weekend. My table was at best 4.75/6 ever shoe I watch and/or played. I don't want to promote disinformation but this was my experience for the trip.

Understandable. Never seen nosey supervisors over doubles either. Usually they are too busy talking with each other waiting for the next break.

MGM has the sharpest pit personnel by far. They also have good memories.

I do suggest you wait until spring (after April 15th) for your trip. The U.P. can be a nasty place in the winter time and so can the northern part of lower MI. Believe me, lake effect snow is not fun to drive in. In early spring the U.P. is really quite dead. Not many cars on the road at all. It is a good time to visit before all the summer tourists come.

MGM was better. 6d, 3:2, and around 70 pen. Still high, with 15-25 min, tables. Of the three I visited, this was the most professional and player friendly.
You played 60-70% pen..
Why on earth???

MGM Detroit has a s17 6 deck game. Pays 3:2 $25 minimum. I haven't been there in a while but the penetration was good a couple of years ago. Was about 70% to 85% depending on the dealer.

I am going there tonight so I'll see if anything has changed
