Kender there are no casinos in Maine, Vermont or New Hampshire. Too bad for the North East corner. As for Quebec City there are also none. But there is one about 80 miles North East of Quebec City, it looks like in the middle of nowhere. I have never been there so I can't tell you the conditions. Here is their website, also the casino is not open 24 hours so check their times before you go.

Terrible. There is really nothing worth playing in Quebec. But Nova Scotia has a couple of 4D games I'd like to check out some day.

I finally made it up to Casino Montreal and must agree with AM that it is a terrible casino. Probably the worst conditions I have ever seen other than CSMs. The pen was a little better than 65% on 8D and they hit soft 17.

There is also a rule limiting the number of hands you can play. The limit is 2 hands per player.

Does anyone one know the smallest table limitis in the Casino of Montreal? its either 10 or 15 bucks not sure.... Also, i heard that at some tables they actually stand on soft 17 is this true?
However, if the rules at the Casino of Montreal are as you guys describe them to be, (h17,65-75 pen,8 decks) is this a beatable game?
What is the house advantage of the casino if the rules are as you guys describe them to be?
I hope this is a beatable game becase i live like 30 mins away from it, and my college is like only 15 mins away from it by metro, so i'd be able to pretty much go there everyday for at least 2-4 hours a day and possible MUCH more on weekends. So i need to know if this game is beatable because if its not, than i simply won't bother with it.
The estimated casino edge for these rules are about 0.69% if i remember correctly. Furthermore, knowing that with each plus one at your true count, you get a 0.5% edge. So i was thinking, what if i just wong tables, and when i see the true count being plus 2 or more ( giving me at least a 0.31 percent edge) i just jump in and bet, and as soon as i see it go lower than plus 2, i leave. With this method, won't i ALWAYS have the edge over the casino, and actually make money in the long run? ( I don't care if i just have to wait there for hours before the count gets good, i want to make money, and am willing to make that sacrifice.)

the game u describe is not a good game. with a .69% edge and poor pen you should try to find another game if not i suspect you would be doing alot of backcounting with very few hands per hour. technically yes you would always be playing with an advantage but you would still need to size your bets to get a proper ror etc.. there are better ways to make money then this.
But if you want to use the time for it and maybe get a little money.... go ahead. Your EV in you played all with like a 1-20 spread is at like >=0.5

no matter how much you bet you will always recieve the same % of return.
I don't think the vast majority of counters and people becoming counters really ever make that much off it. There are some that do though...
For the amount of money and time required for the investment in card counting there are plenty of other options to make more $ out there.

The house advantage for a H17 8 deck game is .65%. It's a lousy game to begin with, then when you throw in the horrible pen they have it becomes a very difficult place to make money.

65%-75% pen kills it. You won't be seeing very high count's that often. Maybe not difficult to play but slow and painfull which does make it difficult to make money at a decent rate:cry:
i've played at montreal, the game is horrible. it is beatable, but pretty much the worst case scenario, i'd guess that every single other person on this forum has access to a better game. But if this is all you got, then hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Backcount, go in non-busy times, try to get more coutners to split the variance.
and yes, if your bankroll is big you can make a decent hourly, obviously thats relative. but to get something like 20/hr and maintain low RoR you'd want something like 20k for this game alone i think. not lookin so good now eh? :laugh:
