When Thorpe played Blackjack, the rules made it almost a dead even game. No preferentials and no heat received for spreading. So yeah pretty easy to overhaul. Very different from today's conditions.

Yeah but when Ed Thorpe won too much money back in his day, he ends up in trunk of car....So...it's trade off.
