New player here. Bet spread advice and bankroll

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to card counting, not so new to casinos. I've been doing all sorts of research with the tools currently available to me to get a game plan made for when i'm finally ready to hit the casino. My starting bankroll (I know it's too low, but it's all I've got at the moment) would be minimum $1000. Average game near me would be $5 table min, S17, DAS, split aces and around 80-85% pen on 6 deck games.

The bet spread I've seen recommended for the bankroll I have is 1-12, although it has a high ROR I can deal with the risk at the moment. What do you guys think of having a min-max bet of $5 - $60 with my bankroll? Any and all advice is welcome. Sorry for any simple questions but it's what I haven't been able to find answers to and any seasoned players advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, at what point in the count (if at all) should I switch from 1 to 2 hands? and how much should I bet when doing so?

Sounds reasonable, just be aware you're expected to make only around $5/hr, and you have a high probability of losing it all.

Thanks for the reply! I am aware there's a high chance of losing it all. Hopefully lady luck swings my way and i get some positive variance to dig me out of some of the ROR in the beginning. My main goal is to minimize my N0 time and try to get to the long run before the bank wears out. Any advice on doing that?

You are fortunate that you have very good rules on $5 tables, that is very rare in today's times. Can you double on any two cards? Does your game offer the late surrender clause rule?

Here is one tip for you:

Learn to take well-timed breaks when the counts are bad, as you do not want to be playing every hand. The game has plenty of ups and downs like a seesaw and the more often you play the negative counts will require you to use a larger spread to make up for all those negative hands that you played. So do some table hopping, and periodically sit out some hands.

I believe it's only double on 9-A. No surrender rules.

Thank you for that advice. I've definitely started to see the importance of back counting and milking only positive counts when working with a small bankroll like mine. I'll do that.

One question, the casino I have this table at is the only one in nearby. Whats the best thing to do when there are no casinos left near you? Would you travel and drive to the next best casino or plan a trip and fly there?

16 max bet bankroll? That's stupid. Save up some more money before you hit the felt, and spend the time between now and then practicing.

I had the same question. Sames rules here, but the minimum is $1 where I've been playing. They did a huge new hire session recently and there's this one chick I follow that cuts the 6 deck shoes down to ~25 cards lol!

hows that stupid? Fred Renzy says 14-17 ,max bets for a 4hourish session, being a favorite is not stupid but if he does happen to lose all when he leaves the casino he might feel stupid, but isn't that what risk/gambling is all about?

Whether or not someone agrees with Renzy he was referring to a 4-hour session. Titan's starting bankroll was a minimum of $1000 at the moment "his words". There is a big difference between a session bankroll and a starting bankroll. Not to mention Titan asked about one possibility of planning a trip by flying to another casino area. All due respect to Titan, do you think that the expense incurred to take the trip would be a detriment to him, considering what he has already said? Of course, Titan never mentioned what his max bankroll is.
