New to forum, question on bet spread

Hey guys I am new to the forum, and to counting. I've picked up a lot of good stuff already and also realized how little I know right now. I read that an ideal bet spread for a 6D game is 1-12. The games I usually play in are dealer stands 17, split up to 4 times, double any 2, double soft, no surrender, 75-80% Pen. If I was playing $5 units play all, would I be $5 right off the top and increase a certain # units for each +TC? Or maybe $15 off the top and allow for a decrease during -TC? Also I know it's not an even unit progression for each +TC, tell me how I can calculate this. For example I saw in an old thread they gave an example of:

-1: wong out
0: 5
1: 10
2: 25
3: 40
4: 50

Thanks to any and all help and I look forward to learning a lot more.

*oh and if someone wants to translate my laymen speak into BJ shorthand that'd be fine too*

That's my spread :p To give some context, the rules that I was playing are the same rules you "prefer to play" (and really good rules, too), and I have a ~$5000 bankroll.

There really isn't any reason to bet $15 off the top. If you're playing red chips, I would use 0 cover plays.

Otherwise, bet spread can depend on a lot of factors like bankroll size and the risk you're willing to take etc..

Went the other night, used the above spread, but by sitting out at TC -1 there were at times long stretches where I'd be sitting out. Doesn't that set off some alarms? Or playing at that level is there generally not much heat?

If there are alarms set off, you don't need them anyway.

(As you'd never get anything big out of them anyway if they're sweating $5 Red).

a little bored tonight so ran a quick sim for you, only 4million hands using sweet 16 indexes, hilo.
for 6d S17 DAS DA2 RS4 NS 75% pen, no re-split aces w/only 1 hit.

Your spread is only 1-10, my results for that were
about $8.01 per hour
1.33% EV (expected value = your advantage)
$313.79 Variance
36.19 score (c-score based on $5000 total bank roll)
0.033513 ROR (3.4% Risk of Ruin = losing all $5000)

For a true 1-12 spread (0:5,1:10,2:20,3:40,4:60) my results for that were
about $8.15 per hour
1.43% EV
$364.03 Variance
37.48 score
0.040411 ROR (4.0%)

NO COVER (ie. a larger bet off the top where your at a disadvantage is a bad idea at $5 levels.)

Hope this helps
