Notes from a newbie

All your advice makes a lot of sense. I should probably apologize for wonging like a dick instead of taking the time to improve upon my brutishly simple playing system. (I looked at QFit's hourly rate calculator, and while such stats might be based on arbitrary baselines that ignore wonging, slow speed, and other elements of real-world play, Hi-Opt II w/sidecount would improve my earnings by nearly a third.)

I'm not going to show my face in there for a while. Besides, I have more important things to do that are worth more to me than $10-20/hour and do not risk $5000 of my savings. When I go back, I'll use a better system so I can afford to cut my spread, play all and even tip well. They pool their tips and the pit seems to notice tipping. Maybe that will help. Also, I will really need to improve my ratholing skills.

The last time I played this game, I was thinking, why is this game so great after all? Even at 1am, the table was full of ploppy truckers who would take 15 seconds to decide whether to hit or stay on 16v7. The dealer had some kind of physical condition that would cause his hands to shake uncontrollably, so penetration at one point was something like 30%. The resulting two-hand shoe took about 10 minutes to complete because of the shaky hands. Poor dude, at least he's not blowing his life savings at the slots like most people his age.

And then I realized how impossible it is for someone with a bankroll like mine to do anything worthwhile at any other tables around here. I could go backcount a 6-decker with bad pen and find like 5 advantageous situations in a whole hour to play. I'd have to piss off a whole bunch of ghetto people to butt in. Of course I wouldn't get any heat because I'd be making like $4/hour with absurd variance.

So yes, CP is right, I need to figure out how to play my DD game as gently as possible. And when I travel to other good games, I'll try not to be an ass.

CP, if you're from around here, PM me and I can tell you a few other observations I've made about the games in the area, to the extent you find any of them worth playing.

Ease vs Power

UBZ II is unbalanced?, higher level? and partially accounts for A?, without keeping an A side count? This is probably the way to go for DD play considering ease and power. It's also reasonable for shoes.

Since you are new adding an A side count would be a lot to ask.

You probably need to spread your play around to other casinos and in this casino play some of the shoes.

You are already getting heat probably because you are annoying other players, dealer, playing fairly obvious and winning. Plus you are in plain view of the pit.

If you have outlined wong in and out points for your current system or perhaps new system then use those for playing shoes.

The DD has a $100 max? Be very hesitant about ever betting $100.

good cards
