As posted in a local paper that Ohio's casino will in fact be smoke free in addition to stopping booze sales at 2:30 am. First mistake is restricting smoking to outside the casino which has been proven to hurt profits. Second big mistake was to stop booze sales and in addition they can't give you the booze you will have to pay for it. This is another example of why Ohio will screw up the whole casino issue and should have never allowed it. They will allow tables but limit the number of slots to 5000 per casino? I have to at least give them credit by allowing the table games at the gitgo instead of being like PA.:whip:

I'd rather pay for booze and get good stuff than get what most (but not all) casinos dish out for free.

Smoking bans have a mixed effect. Sure, they will bring people to the casino that otherwise would not go, but not the kind of people they want. It's worst on the slots, where having to get up and go outside to smoke a cigarette breaks the hypnotic rhythm of the machine that is what keeps people there.

It was banned for 3 weeks. I was there the first day of the ban. Amazing what a difference one day made. Coincidentally, the economic downturn happened at the same time. The Borgata is nasty smoky, but in a few of the stores the air is surprisingly clean. Most of Showboat's table area is smoke-free now. The CT stores are worse than anything in AC for smoke. I'm not a believer in second-hand smoke being a health hazard but it sure increases fatigue, for me.

When they did the AC smoking ban the CT stores responded by putting up billboards on the approaches to the city showing their patrons smoking.

I guess I'm old fashioned when it comes to casinos and poker games with guys sipping booze and smoking cigars. No nagging just bustin each other balls and taking each others money. What happend to America where there were more important things to worry about. We are more concerned about the non-important things these days then what really matters. I'm sorry but I don't go to a whore house for a haircut and don't expect casinos to be nicely lite with a certain ambiance about them. Yes a classy place is nice but I don't need all anemities to make a buck at bj. Nope. Gambling and smoking go together as well as any two other addictions you can think of.

The state of Ohio is in the process of picking canidates for the gaming board. This will be the precursor of how the whole ball of wax plays out in the state. If they pick seven stooges with little knowledge of the inner working of the casino industry we are screwed from the start. If they pick people that have run other commisions we may have a fighting chance to have a decent gaming industry in Ohio. Our governor is not the most adept in picking people that are trully qualified for their position.

Seneca Allegheny does. The Detroit casinos don't. I think it'll be a positive, as I don't drink or smoke. Glad to see they didn't make an exception to the no smoking law.

I was at a casino that didn't have their liquor license as of opening once and to tell you the truth it was great for me. No drunken players playing like idiots or arguements between them. For the casino not so good because of the take on or lack of there of. Lack of service for any beverage was poor because the waiteresses were getting crap for tips. My point was taken earlier in the thread and still stands one vice follows the other. Too bad people want to sectionalize their vices to suit thier needs and stand on unfounded principles.

Dude you need to get around more-AC, Vegas, Reno, Foxwoods, Mohegan, Laughlin all free booze.
As far as I'm concerned if they can't comp me a whiskey and Coke they don't get my money. At least if I go broke I can play nickel VP and drink till I head up to the room and pass out.

Well, I don't drink and have no desire nor the time/money to travel all over the country to find a Blackjack game. My initial point was they are just following state law. Why give casinos an exemption? That puts bars at a distinct disadvantage.
