I think I'm going to found the virtual country of "NETOPIA". Issue Passports, Driver's Licenses, Functioning Credit Cards, Virtual Street Addresses, Virtual utilities, etc..of course it would be funded with real taxes, but you could pay in the legal tender of the Netopia Reserve Bank.
Exchange Rate: NB = $1.25 Initial citizenship "Buy-in" TBD. Dual citizenship with other countries available... NO extradition treaties. FEW laws.
To resurrect this old topic- it's been tried. Even if you could get your virtual country recognized there are treaties against countries issuing domestic documents to foreign nationals, and some countries take it
very seriously, especially the US. Can you imagine what would happen if the Kingdom of Tonga started issuing drivers licenses and car registrations to Americans? The states would lose billions of dollars and their ability to herd the sheep.
But there might be some potential in this idea. There was a Canadian fellow Rob McGarvey (R.I.P.) who ran an online team back when online was really good. He had a page of links and you would sign up through his link and he'd split the commission with you. Then everybody would buy in, play, and cash out at the same time, to get maximum profit from the online store before they figured out something was wrong and changed their bonus.
So I envision something like this, run by a non-US resident (not Denmark either!) who would set up the links and he'd keep all the commission, and in return he'd provide US online AP's with overseas addresses, cash in/out services, basically do our legwork and ancillary tasks, with additional payment given to him as needed. Anybody think the online AP environment is profitable enough to support such a system?
